    Overview

The crossing of the Kongma La, Cho La, and Renjo La passes can link the five major valleys in the Everest region. When combined with ascents of Kala Patar and Gokyo Peak, this is perhaps the ultimate Everest experience. We stay in comfortable lodges in the valleys and camp away from the main trail during pass crossings. From Kathmandu we fly to Lukla and follow the classic Everest trail through Namche Bazaar, Thyangboche and Dingboche to the Kongma La pass surrounded by dramatic views of Ama Dablam, Makalu and the Lhotse/Nuptse face. From the pass we descend to the Khumbu glacier and then ascend Kala Patar for breathtaking close-up views of Mount Everest and a sea of other Himalayan giants. We traverse the glaciated Cho La pass to Gokyo, where we explore the valley and climb Gokyo Ri to enjoy more excellent mountain views including another angle of Everest, and Cho Oyu on the Tibetan border to the north. We then bear west to scramble across the Renjo La, dramatically back-dropped by the Everest range, to enter the Bhote Kosi valley, where we trek through yak grazing pastures to Thami, and back to Lukla for a traditional farewell with our Sherpa crew.

    • I have nothing but good word to say about my trekking experience with Nepal Nomad.

Lowry kirkby, Ph D in Berkley, USA
    • There are no other places as exciting as Nepal for trekking but despite there are so many great opportunities something like 95% of the people concentrate in just 3 itineraries: the Everest BC trek, the Annapurna South BC trek and the Annapurna Round Trek. Recently the Lantang trek is also getting crowded.

      Francesco Caselli, Italy
    • My wife & I have trekked twice in Nepal.
