On the first day of your arrival, our representative with our office vehicle will be on a standby .After you are transferred to the hotel a pre-trek briefing on the trekking program and any last minute arrangements will schedules. You will get familiar to the surroundings as you go down the streets for a walk. Then a delicious local Nepali dinner will be served accompanied by cultural dance performed by the local belles.

On this particular day, we explore around Kathmandu City and visit to the two world heritage sites. This includes a visit to the Bodhnath Stupa known for its unique structure and as the biggest shrines in the world. For a more lighthearted day, a visit to Pashupatinath, situated on the banks of the holy Baghmati River which is considered as a home to the hundreds of thousands Hindus people and as the famous Hindu temple across the country where you will see Hindu holy men (sadhus) and pilgrims performing ritual bathing, and occasionally, funeral pyres burning on the Ghats. The cremation site here is used by the royal family and also for the simple man living next door. In the early afternoon you can relax to your hotel or do last minute shopping. Travelling by bus to Syabru Besi, it takes about 9 hrs to reach and by jeep in about 7- 8 hrs which gives an immense sight to the beautiful Syabru Besi. Passing through Dhunche, we head north out of the Kathmandu driving through scenic rolling hills of Syabru Besi. We will be enclosed by the majestic sights of the green hills, terraces, Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal. We will be staying overnight at the accommodation.

Today we ascend from Syabrubesi for about two- three hours then we finally get the amazing sight of the peaks like Langtang Lirung, Gosaikunda and the Ganesh Himal as we descend about an hour to the Goljung valley we take our lunch and then start our trek to the Gatlang for about 5 hrs, the trail to reach there is extremely spectacular. Gatlang is one of the Tamang villages which gives you the opportunity to know more about the Tamang heritage and be around the terraced fields. We stay for an overnight there

After an early breakfast, we start our trek by going downhill to the Thangbuchet and then to the Chilime village, after having a lunch for the time we then go all the way up ascending to the Tatopani village and stay for an overnight there. We will then take a hot bath which will take away all the pain away after the hard and long walk.

Today we hike to the Thuman via Nagthali as we climb upward to the Nagthali Danda which is filled with the mesmerizing snowcapped Himalayas. We walk along the accommodation at the Tamang arrangement of the Brimdang as we ascend to the Nagthali, we get to see more beautiful sight of Sanjen, Ganesh Himal, Kerung with the warm tea. We continue our trek and ultimately reach at the Thuman and stay for an overnight at there.

Today is day seven when we start trekking to the Timure Camp which is the Tibetan Border lands, the walk takes about 3-4 hrs maximum.

Today we hike to the Briddim out from the Timure Camp. Briddim is one of the Tibetan Buddhist small towns which are located in the beautiful Langtang Himal. It takes about 5-6 hrs to reach to Briddim.

Today is the day where we stay at the Briddim for the rest after so many days of trekking. We explore more in the area of the majestic monastery of the Dukchu Gomba Monastery. Most of the houses are stone houses and the residence is mainly the Tibetan origin and then there is more of the similarity in the Tibetan village.

We begin our trek to Syabrubesi and then following the BhoteKoshi River on the left side of the valley we then pass the river and then follow the corn fields and the paddy, we descend back to the Syabrubesi and stay for an overnight at the Syabrubesi. The trek takes about approximately 4- 5 hrs from here to reach the Syabrubesi from the Briddim.

Today is day 11, as we return to Kathmandu out from the Syabrubesi and with an amazing beauty of the lush forest and greenery accompanying with us.

Experience Required:

A good level of fitness and experience of mountain walking is required for the Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking. These tend to be longer treks with some more difficult days, some of which may involve walking at increased altitudes and more difficult terrain. Occasionally, there may be a longer day when negotiating the more challenging sections such as a mountain pass or viewing peak.

Pre-Trip Meeting:

Prior to set off to Tamang Heritage Trail Trekkingwe host a Pre-Trip meeting here in Kathmandu office on the 2nd day of your itinerary which starts in the evening during the dinner and introduce your trek Leader. It is an opportunity for individuals to ask questions about your Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking as well as introduce yourself to one another.

Equipment Check List:

The specified basic equipment’s check lists should help you with your packing. Remember to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should not weigh more than 20 kg.


For the head protection: Sun hat or scarf - Light balaclava or warm fleece hat - Sunglasses with UV protection.

Lower Body: -

Under Garments - Hiking shorts - Lightweight cotton long pants - Light weight hiking thermal bottoms - Fleece or wool pants – Waterproof trekking trousers -

Upper Body:-

Hands: - gloves that are Lightweight - Heavyweight gloves or mittens with a waterproof shell outer.


Sleeping bag (comfort rated –10ºC)*- Sleeping bag liner - Head torch with spare bulbs and batteries - Small pad or combination.

Trekking Bags: - Large bag for keeping items dry inside trek bag, Daypack 250 to 30litres. - Thermarest sleeping pad - Water bottles - Water purification tablets.

Basic First Aid Kit: - Antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Imodium), altitude (Diamox), painkillers, plasters and blister treatment, insect repellent, and re-hydration salts (Dioralite). Glucose tablets and multi-vitamin tablets are also a good idea.

Toiletries:- 1 medium sized quick drying towel - Tooth brush/paste - Multipurpose soap - Deodorants - Nail clippers - Face and body moisturizer - Feminine products - Small mirror - Wet wipes - toilet roll/Tissue Extras - Antibacterial hand wash

A typical day:

At 6.30 am your Sherpa knocks on your door with a cup of good morning tea. Time for the Breakfast, tight up your bag pack and head off for today's trekking hiking for the next three to four hours then at pleasant spot we shall stop for an hour along the way for a well-prepared hot lunch. Later, a walk another three hours or so before you stop for the overnight. The evening can be spent reading or chatting with your fellow hikers or trekking crew about the trip of the day. An asset can be pack of games to these nights; your trekking crew love teaching various Nepali card games and learning new Western games. Eventually, it's time to bed for a well-deserved night.


While at the Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking, lodging options are limited so please do not expect the Ritz! Nepal Nomad utilizes simplistic family run lodges, with a large sociable central dining area and a cozy chimney burning fire. Lodges are on a twin share basis and we recommend you use your own sleeping bag. Accommodations in the Tamang Heritage Trail Trekkingtend to have shared bathroom facilities and you may not always have access to a shower. Regardless of the lack of facilities, these lodges certainly have a rustic charm, most are blessed with spectacular views and being family run operations, they offer a great insight into the daily life of the Mountain people.


Nepal Nomad's booking terms & conditions of joining Tamang Heritage Trail Trekkingincludes that you must be fully insured with medical, emergency rescue evacuations including trip cancellation insurance which should cover over 3000m to 6000m.

Altitude Sickness:

Itinerary of the Tamang Heritage Trail Trekkingis designed to ensure that there is plenty of times for adequate occurs as a result of acclimatization and cases of mountain sickness are rare. The common Symptoms are headaches, nausea, irregular breathing, insomnia and the swelling of fingers and glands. Medical Treatment is to descend to a lower altitude as quickly as possible which normally results in rapid improvement and recovery.


On Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking, three meals on full board basis will be provided (Nepali, Sherpa, and Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Chinese and Indian cousins). Every day dinner and breakfast will be placed and taken in the same lodge you spend over night but Lunch will be taken on your way to next village. Farewell dinner, breakfast and reception will be provided in Kathmandu.
