Chulu Far East Peak Climb (6059m) is one of the most adventurous yet easiest climbs in the Annapurna region. Among the three Chulu peaks standing proudly in the region, Chulu Far East peak is composed of straight trail which makes it a less technical climbing experience. The extraordinary Chulu massif beautifully sits on the north of Marsyangdi Khola that flows graciously in the Manang region. The Chulu Far East Peak trekking and climbing doesn’t require any previous mountaineering experience but one is required to be physically sound and dedicated for a glorified summit of the peak.

The 18 days Chulu Far East Peak Climb takes us through the beautiful valleys under the shadow of the great Annapurna massif. You will certainly be gratified with the gorgeous wonders which the route to Chulu Far East Peak lays down like the pretty villages where the people of Gurung community live with great pride. After your landing at the Tribhuvan international airport, you can find our team member waiting for you to escort you all the way to your accommodations. You can take some time to refresh and then conduct short strolls around the cozy streets of Kathmandu. Later in the evening, you will be served a Nepali Cuisine with great hospitality. Afterwards we will have some discussions about the whole upcoming journey where you can put forward all your queries.

The second day has been prepared for a short tour in Kathmandu. Our guide will escort you to all the beautiful parts of Kathmandu. You are certain to be humbled by the various cultural heritage sites that stand tall in the city with great historical integrity. Some of those heritage sites are even listed in the UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites list like the Pasupatinath temple, Swayambhunath, Bouddhanath stupa and others. After finishing the sightseeing, you will be required to remain prepared by packing every essential for the trekking and climbing journey which lies ahead of us.

Today, we will be hopping on a private vehicle and head towards Dharapani which is situated in the Manang district at an altitude of 1,890 meters. It is likely to take us eight hours to reach Dharapani from Kathmandu through a drive. We will be staying overnight

at Dharapani.

Our actual trek begins from the fourth day of our Chulu Far East climbing peak as we head towards Chame from Dharapani. It is likely to take us six hours to reach an altitude of 2,695 meters where Chame is situated at. The further we move, the more we get closer to the astounding existence of the Himalayas like the Annapurna massif. The trek brings us more close to the existence of Lamjung valley. However, we will be staying overnight at Chame.

Today, we will be leaving Chame after an early morning breakfast and head for Pisang which is situated at an elevation of 3,475 meters. It will take us about six hours to reach Pisang as we make our way through the beautiful forest decorated with pines and rhododendrons. We will be encountered with various Tibetan settlements along the way and make our way through the barley and buckwheat fields. As we get closer to the Pisang village, we will be rewarded with the gracious sight of Pisang peak which will make our whole trek worth it. We will be staying overnight at Pisang village.

On the sixth day, we will be heading for Ngawal from Pisang after having a warm breakfast at the village. We will be reaching Ngawal via Ghyaru. We will be staying overnight at the town of Ngawal which lies at the bottom of Chulu peak.

Chulu Far East Base Camp is our camping destination for the day which is situated at an elevation of 3,910 meters. We will leave Ngawal after getting energized with our early morning breakfast. We will be faced with various up and downs as we make our way through dense forests, river streams and wooden bridges. As we head for the Base Camp, we will be leaving the Annapurna Round trek. We will be staying overnight at the Base Camp.

High Camp is our camping destination for the day. On the eighth day, we will be leaving Chulu Far East Base Camp situated at an elevation of 3,910 meters for reaching to an elevation of 4,955 meters where High Camp is situated at. We will be heading straight towards the north in order to reach the High Camp which is likely to take us about four hours of walk. In the remaining time, after reaching the high camp, we will be doing some climbing practices and stay overnight in our tented camp.

The ninth day is for acclimatization and resting purpose. Our body has to be in proper condition to face the extreme change in the weather and the altitude along with other upcoming challenges. Today, we will be learning about the use of gears and practice for climbing.

Finally on the tenth day, we begin climbing the glorious Chulu Peak from the high camp. We will begin the adventure very early in the morning as on the same day we will be heading back to the base camp. Our climbing expert of the group leader will lead the way and instruct you along the journey to the top. It is indeed going to be a marvelous experience to stand on the top of 6,059 meters. The accomplishment indeed deserves some celebration. Along the summiting journey, you will be rewarded with the glorious scenarios of mountains Gangapurna, Annapurna and some other incredible peaks.

On the eleventh day, we will be desending down towards Manang from the Base Camp after having an early morning breakfast. After reaching Manang by moving through various agricultural fields, forests and villages, we can use the remaining time to explore the beautiful existence of Manang.

Today, we will leave Manang early in the morning after reviving ourselves with a wonderful breakfast. We will again be joining with the classic Thorong La trek. The day is filled with mouth gasping opportunities as we gain the view of mountains like Annapurna, Tarekekang as well as the view of Tilicho Lake. We will be staying overnight at Chauri Letdar.

On the thirteenth day, we will be trekking towards Thorong Phedi and head towards an elevation of 4,450 meters. We will be moving through a narrow valley of Kone Khola which is indeed very beautiful. Then after some hours of walk, we will reach Thorong Phedi which is the regarded as the Base Camp of Thorong La Pass. We will be staying overnight at Thorong Phedi.

After having an early morning breakfast at Thorong Phedi, we will leave for Muktinath. Along the path, we will be ascending towards Thorong La pass which is one of the highest passes in the world delivering the most astounding mountain scenarios along with the views of valleys and landscapes. We will gain the whole view of Annapurna massif from the Thorong La pass. We will then be heading downwards from the pass to reach Muktinath which is situated at an elevation of 3800 meters. We will be staying overnight at Muktinath.

On the fifteenth day, we will be leaving Muktinath after a gracious visit to the Muktinath temple which stands upon religious beliefs and mythical stories. Our destination for the day is Jomsom. We will be ehading towards Jomsom alongside the beautiful Kali Gandaki River. We will be staying overnight at Jomsom.

Today, we will be catching an early morning flight to Pokhara to avoid any harsh weather conditions. It is indeed going to be a scenic flight as we fly above the clouds gaining the astounding views of glorious mountain peaks and wondrous landscapes.

Finally on the seventeenth day, we will be heading back to the city where it all started. We will have an early morning breakfast at Pokhara and then leave to catch a flight to Kathmandu. It is not going to be a very long flight. It will indeed be a thrilling experience as this flight to Kathmandu will be a scenic one too. Then after your landing, you will be escorted to your accommodation.

Experience Required:

A good level of fitness and experience of mountain walking is required for the Chulu Far East Peak Climb. These tend to be longer treks with some more difficult days, some of which may involve walking at increased altitudes and more difficult terrain. Occasionally, there may be a longer day when negotiating the more challenging sections such as a mountain pass or viewing peak. Altitude may range up to 6000 meters.

Pre-Trip Meeting:

Prior to set off to Chulu Far East Peak Climb, we host a Pre-Trip meeting here in Kathmandu office on the 2nd day of your itinerary which starts in the evening during the dinner and introduce your trek Leader. It is an opportunity for individuals to ask questions about your Chulu Far East Peak Climb as well as introduce you to one another.

Equipment Check List:

The specified basic equipments check lists should help you with your packing. Remember to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should not weigh more than 20 kg.


For the head protection: Sun hat or scarf - Light balaclava or warm fleece hat - Sunglasses with UV protection.

Lower Body: -

Basic First Aid Kit: - Antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Imodium), altitude (Diamox), painkillers, plasters and blister treatment, insect repellent, and re-hydration salts (Dioralite). Glucose tablets and multi-vitamin tablets are also a good idea.

Toiletries:- 1 medium sized quick drying towel - Tooth brush/paste - Multipurpose soap - Deodorants - Nail clippers - Face and body moisturizer - Feminine products - Small mirror - Wet wipes - toilet roll/Tissue Extras - Antibacterial hand wash

A typical day:

At 6.30 am your Sherpa knocks on your door with a cup of good morning tea. Time for the Breakfast, tight up your bag pack and head off for today's trekking hiking for the next three to four hours then at pleasant spot we shall stop for an hour along the way for a well-prepared hot lunch. Later, a walk another three hours or so before you stop for the over night. The evening can be spent reading or chatting with your fellow hikers or trekking crew about the trip of the day. An asset can be pack of games to these nights; your trekking crew love teaching various Nepali card games and learning new Western games. Eventually, it's time to bed for a well deserved night.


While at the Chulu Far East Peak Climb, lodging options are limited so please do not expect the Ritz! Nepal Nomad utilizes simplistic family run lodges, with a large sociable central dining area and a cozy chimney burning fire. Lodges are on a twin share basis and we recommend you use your own sleeping bag. Accommodations in Chulu Far East Peak Climb tend to have shared bathroom facilities and you may not always have access to a shower. Regardless of the lack of facilities, these lodges certainly have a rustic charm, most are blessed with spectacular views and being family run operations, they offer a great insight into the daily life of the Mountain people.


Nepal Nomad's booking terms & conditions of joining Chulu Far East Peak Climb includes that you must be fully insured with medical, emergency rescue evacuations including trip cancellation insurance which should cover over 3000m to 6000m.

Altitude Sickness:

Itinerary of Chulu Far East Peak Climb is designed to ensure that there is plenty of times for adequate occurs as a result of acclimatization and cases of mountain sickness are rare. The common Symptoms are headaches, nausea, irregular breathing, insomnia and the swelling of fingers and glands. Medical Treatment is to descend to a lower altitude as quickly as possible which normally results in rapid improvement and recovery.


On Chulu Far East Peak Climb, three meals on full board basis will be provided (Nepali, Sherpa, and Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Chinese and Indian cousins). Every day dinner and breakfast will be placed and taken in the same lodge you spend over night but Lunch will be taken on your way to next village. Farewell dinner, breakfast and reception will be provided in Kathmandu.
