After an early morning b/fast, we take the super flight from Kathmandu to Lukla at 2827m. The airstrip built by Sir Edmund Hillary and the Sherpas in the mid-1960s, Flight time is about 35 minutes. We will have time to explore the village while the Sherpa crew sort out and load the trekking equipment after landing. When it’s the afternoon, we will start walking through a descent way leading towards the Dudh Kosi River which ultimately joins the main trail of Namche Bazaar. You will start your ascent towards Namche after breakfast in Phakding. The altitude will become apparent on this challenging day. There are several suspension bridges as the trail descends on a rocky path before leveling off. As the air becomes warmer, we walk on the same path to Lukla. Experience and Insurance Required for the Gokyo Lakes Trekking Journey

For experience, it is a plus point if you already have some sort of trekking and hiking experience in the mountain sections. However, it is a must for you to be medically sound and physically fit in order to deal with any challenges that we may encounter.

Pre-Trip Meeting before the Gokyo Valley Gokyo Lakes Trekking

You are expected to attend the Pre-Trip briefing which will in the usual manner take place in our Kathmandu office. It will be hosted and held in between our first and second day before we immerse ourselves in the trekking adventure.

A normal day in the Gokyo Lakes Trekking

You will be waking up very early in the morning and then attend your breakfast with tea or coffee, as per your choice. Then we will be preparing our bag packs and equipment for catching up with our day’s trekking or hiking which will lead us to our overnight destination but in between, we will be having our lunch in a suitable and comfortable place. This process continues on most days of our amazing trek.

Accommodation and meals in Gokyo Lakes Trek

We request you to not expect any form of the luxurious environment as lodging facilities are quite in limit and are opened by families on a local level basis. Usually, you will have to share the bathroom with others and be adjustable when there is no shower condition at times. Feel free to stay cozy and warm near the fireplace and chat with other nomads. Likewise, you will be taken care of with three meals on a daily basis in different accommodations while on the trek. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner will be provided as per your taste and as per the availability. Lunchtime is set between the trekking hours when we find a suitable place for resting. On the other hand, breakfast and dinner will be taken in one accommodation where we end our day’s trek.

Altitude Sickness in GokyoValley Trekking

Standing as one of the major challenges and obstacles in high trekking regions, altitude sickness is indeed a little threatening for adventurers as it may put a stop to all the fun and thrills. There are known to be three major stages to altitude sickness which are Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE), and High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE). SO in order to avoid catching it, we acclimatize at various spots as per our itinerary plan. If someone catches it, they are immediately rushed down to a lower altitude and taken care of there. If the case becomes more and more severe, then emergency evacuation is carried out.
