What will we experience in Ombigaichen peak climbing?

The 19 days Ombigaichen Peak Climbing takes us through the amazing Ama Dablam Base camp leading our way to Ombigaichen base Camp. You will be encountered with various pretty villages along the way like the Deboche village and pass through suspension bridges hanging over the thrilling yet beautiful Dudh koshi River. The Ombigaichen Peak Climbing and trekking leads our way through beautiful forests filled with rhododendrons, oaks and pines and introduces us to the serene existence of wondrous monasteries like the Tengboche monastery. We will be following the flow of Dudh koshi River on certain trails and make our way to the climbing point which is the base camp. Along the journey, you will get tons of opportunities to explore the remote yet unique existence of various villages like the Phakding village along with the lifestyle and culture of the people living there. The Ombigaichen Peak trek ends at the Ombigaichen Base Camp as we will start climbing the peak from that point by settling all the required instruments like ropes and other climbing equipments. We will be summiting the peak through an early morning climb. Ombigaichen Peak expedition is not extremely challenging and does not require any special technical skills or experience. This peak climbing is perfect for those who want to begin their mountaineering experience or have minimal experience on the field. You will be received by our team member and escorted all the way to your accommodation after your landing in the Tribhuvan International Airport. You can take your time to get refreshed and then conduct short strolls around the streets of Thamel and Basantapur. Similarly, you will be welcomed with a Nepali Cuisine dinner. Then we will have brief discussions about the whole trip.

After having a warm breakfast, you can make your stay in Kathmandu joyful by taking a short tour around the city. This day is specially separated for preparation purpose; however, our guide can escort you around the various heritage sites of the city. Kathmandu has some of its gems enlisted in the UNESCO’s world heritage sites like Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, Swayambhunath and others. Getting a close introduction of these sites can indeed be reviving. Further in the evening, we will be having proper discussions on the upcoming journey and you are required to remain prepared.

Today, we will be catching an early morning flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. The flight is likely to last for about forty five minutes which will indeed be a scenic and thrilling one. Then after the landing, we will be beginning our trek on the same day which will lead us to Phakding within three hours of walk.

On the fourth day, we will be making our way towards Namche Bazaar which is situated at an elevation of 3,440 meters. We will leave Phakding after an early morning breakfast and make our way through various small villages and forest decorated with Rhododendrons, conifers and pines. Similarly, we will be encountered with magical waterfalls and river streams. We will be staying at the hustling town of Namche Bazaar for the night.

Today, we will be taking a break from trekking and have some rest for acclimatization purpose. However, you can conduct short hikes around the town for strengthening your muscles.

From Namche Bazar, we will head towards our new destination on the sixth day of our amazing journey. We will be stretching forwards to reach the Tengboche monastery which is situated at an elevation of 3,860 meters. We will be moving down towards the Dudh Koshi River and make our way through beautiful forest of oaks and conifers. As we reach the monastery, we will be surrounded by the astounding mountain peaks like Ama Dablam and Thamserku. We will be staying overnight at Tengboche Monastery.

Today, we will be moving towards Ama Dablam Base Camp which is situated at an extreme elevation of 4600 meters. We will leave Tengboche Monastery after having an early morning breakfast which will give us all the required enerfy for the day’s challenges. We will be making our way through the village of Deboche and then further reach Minlingo. As we get closer towards the Ama Dablam Base Camp, we are likely to be stunned by the glorious views of Kantega and Ama Dablam itself. We will be staying overnight at Ama Dablam.

On the eighth day of our amazing climbing and trekking journey, we will be further moving towards Ombigaichen Base Camp situated at an elevation of 5200 meters. It is likely to take us about four hours to get there which is a shorter trekking period in comparison. We will be settling our tent around the Base Camp in a favorable area and then stay overnight at the Base Camp.

The ninth day has been prepared for acclimatization and resting purpose. Since we will be moving for a higher altitude in the upcoming days, this process is a must for any climbers. We will be practicing the use of gears and some climbing techniques today.

The tenth day has been provided for flexibility in the climbing plan as there can be certain occurrences of unforeseen circumstances. There can be harsh weather conditions causing the blockade of climbing paths or other unfavorable situations. Thus, if everything goes according to our plan, we need this day but however, in case of unpredictable circumstances, this day can be used.

On the eleventh day, we start ascending towards the high camp after having a warm breakfast at Ombigaichen Base Camp. We will be extending our steps toward an elevation of 5600 meters which is likely to take us four hours to reach. Then we will settle our camp and our climbing team will settle all the required equipment for climbing. We will be staying overnight at High Camp.

Today, we will be beginning the summit of Ombigaichen Peak very early in the morning to avoid any harsh weather and in order head back to the Base camp on time. Our climbing expert will lead your way and instruct you along the journey. It is indeed going to be moment of pride and glory to stand on top of 6,340 meters of height which rewards you with the glorious views of mountains like Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Pumori and many others. Your incredible climbing achievement certainly deserves some celebration. Similarly, after our successful summit, we head back to the Base Camp and stay there for the night.

As a nomad, with adventure, there arises duty as well. It is indeed our duty to clean up the mess that we created while staying at the Base Camp. So we use this day to clean up the Base camp and pack all our stuffs.

Today, we further descend towards Ama Dablam Base Camp from Ombigaichen Base Camp and start cleaning up our camping area. We will be drying up our clothes and gain backs some energy while on our stay at the Ama Dablam Base camp. We will have an overnight stay at the camp.

Our trekking journey is now inclining towards the end. Today, we will be heading back to Tengboche monastery and enjoy some warm Dinner. If we can, we will conduct some celebrations there and sleep with a heart full of pride and glory.

Today, we will be making our way towards the beautiful town of Namche Bazaar after having an early morning breakfast at Tengboche monastery. You can buy some souvenirs from the town if you wish to.

Today is the final day of our trek which we extend towards Lukla, the town where our trekking journey started. We will be walking through various beautiful villages and get a chance to know the mountain people further more while we rest at tea houses for lunch. We will be staying overnight at Lukla.

We catch an early morning flight to Kathmandu from Lukla in order to fly in proper weather conditions. However, you are required to be flexible with the flight schedules as there can be occurrences of various unforeseen situations. But if everything goes according to plan, we will be enjoying a scenic and thrilling flight to Kathmandu. Then, our guide will escort you to your accommodation.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Experience Required:

A suitable degree of physical fitness and experience of mountain strolling is needed for the Ombigaichen Peak Climbing. A typical day:

Your typical day starts with morning tea at 6.30 am your Sherpa. After refreshing yourself it’s time for the breakfast, and get ready to pack up your bag pack and leave for today's trekking for the next three to four hours then at we shall stop for an hour for the lunch time. Later, we will continue our walk for another three hours before stopping for the overnight.

Accommodation:

For accommodation Nepal Nomad arrange the simple family lodges which provides the essence of mountain area. Please do not expect lodges to be good as there will be lots of absence of facilities due to its remoteness. You might also have to share bathrooms and may not have a chance to take a shower.

Insurance:

Nepal Nomad's booking terms & conditions of joining Ombigaichen Peak Climbing includes that you must be fully insured with medical, emergency rescue evacuations including trip cancellation insurance which should cover over 3000m to 6000m.

Altitude Sickness:

Altitude sickness generally occurs to the one who is not used to the high elevation. Taking care of these thoughts we have arranged acclimatization day suitable according to the weather. The symptoms to know whether it is acute mountain sickness or not are headache, irregular breathing, nausea, tiredness and inflammation of fingers and glands. We have also arranged medical facilities for that; but if it doesnot cures then we will go to or descend to lower altitude places for fast recovery.
