Bokta Peak, 6,143m, being one of the least climbed peaks in the Kanchenjunga region, provides enormous opportunities for enthusiastic nomads to explore and attain its unaltered and raw trails. The 32 days Bokta Peak expedition brings you closer to the beautiful district of Taplejung where you can have a tranquil and undisturbed experience of trekking and climbing. Though the summit of Bokta Peak is the aim; however, the paths leading to the peak will decorate you with memories lasting for a lifetime with several encounters of pretty villages like the Lalikharka, Bhanjyang and some others. The more you extend your steps further, the more you will be gratified with the beauty of this region. The amazing Bokta Peak climbing brings us the choice of routes which includes Eastern, western and the Northen routes. The Northern route is the most followed one as the others are comparatively challenging and technical in nature. Though, Bokta Peak trekking and climbing may not sound like a popular form of adventure as it is a recently permitted climbing peak, however, its unpopularity makes it even more unique, raw, mysterious and wondrous; the fun of which can only be felt by a true nomadic explorer. We will be beginning the Bokta Peak trek from Taplejung which will lead us all the way to the Bokta Peak High Camp 5,720m, with the intervals of various days in between. Our actual climb begins from the High Camp which will lead us all the way to the top of 6,143 meters with the help of Nepal nomad’s climbing expert. But before the summit, we will be crossing various rivers, suspension bridges, passes like mirgin La pass situated at an elevation of 4,480 meters and have encounters with magical waterfalls, fluttering prayer flags and generous mountain people. We will even have opportunities to explore and study the life of the Sherpas and the tribe of Bhotias while we observe their culture, tradition and unique ingredients. Today, on the very first day of our great journey, you will be landing in the Tribhuvan International Airport where our team member will be waiting to pick you up. Then you will be escorted to your accommodations where you can get changed and refreshed. You can conduct a relaxing stroll in the cozy streets of Kathmandu. Later in the evening, we will have brief discussing session about the upcoming adventure. For dinner, you will be served with Nepali Cuisine set with great hospitality.

Today we will be making our final preparations which include the permits required for climbing the Bokta peak, we will be preparing for other necessities as well in Kathmandu. Similarly, we seize the day’s opportunity by sightseeing around various heritages of Kathmandu, some of which have even made it to the list of UNESCO’s world heritage sites. Our professional guide will escort you around the many gracious places of Kathmandu and provide you with all the important information about the heritage sites like Bouddhanath, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, and some other astounding sites. Later, we will again have a trip discussion session. And from the next day, we will be heading for an exciting adventure.

Today, we will be heading towards the domestic airport to catch our flight which will lead us to Biratnagar; a beautiful part of Terai. It will take us about forty five minutes to get there. And then, on the same day, we will be heading towards Taplejung on a drive which is likely to take us about five to six hours. We will be resting at an elevation of 1,442 meters where Taplejung is situated at, for the night.

On the fourth day, we will leave Taplejung after having a wonderful breakfast and extend our steps towards Mitlung which stands at an elevation of 920 meters. We will be making our way through farm fields and cross the gracious Tamur River with the help of a suspension bridge. We will be reaching the beautiful village of Mitlung after walking for about six hours. We will stay at Mitlung for the night.

Today, we head for Chiruwa from Mitlung. Along the way, we will have various encounters of pretty tiny villages like the Sinwa Village. We will be reaching Chiruwa situated at an elevation of 1,270 meters after walking for about four to five hours. We will be staying overnight at Chiruwa.

The sixth day leads us to Sekathum from Chiruwa. Today, we will be walking through beautiful grasslands where yaks can often be seen to be grazing. We will observe the valley broadening as we extend our steps further towards Sekathum. We will be crossing the Tamur River which will bring us more close to our destination. After walking for about five to six hours from Chiruwa, we will finally reach Sekathum where we will be staying for the night.

Today, Amjilosa will be our destination where we will be resting for the night. We will be heading for an elevation of 2,308 meters which is likely to take us about five to six hours to reach. We will be following a zig-zag path towards Amjilosa which is led to us by the crossing of various uphill and downhill paths. Within six hours of total walk, we will arrive at Amjilosa.

On the eight day, we will leave for Gyabla which is situated at an elevation of 2,730 meters. We will energize ourselves with the early morning breakfast at Amjilosa and then walk for about six to seven hours to reach Gyabla. We will be making our way through deep and dense forest blooming with rhododendrons. Gyabla is a Tibetan settlement where we will be staying for the night.

On the ninth day, we will leave Gyabla and head for Ghunsa after having our early morning breakfast. We will be extending our steps towards an elevation of 3,550 meters which is likely to take us about five to six hours to reach. The valley starts widening, the more we get closer to Ghunsa. We will be staying overnight at Ghunsa.

We will stop our trek for the day and rest at Ghunsa. We have undertaken a long walk until now and we probably need some rest which is for acclimatization purpose as well. We can use the day for exploring or hiking around Ghunsa.

On the eleventh day, after being acclimatized, we head for Khambachen which is situated at an elevation of 4,050 meters. We will be reaching Khambache within five to six hours of walk from Ghunsa. We will be crossing the bridge in Rampuk Kharka along the way and get encountered with various waterfalls. We will be making our way through the landslide affected areas and in that point, we need to be careful. We will stay overnight at Khambachen.

Lhonak is our destination for the day which is situated at an elevation of 4,780 meters. We will leave Khambachen after having an early morning breakfast and then, walk for about six to seven hours. We will be moving through a slippery trail today, so we need be very careful with that. We will make our way through various grazing fields where yaks can often be seen grazing. We will stay at Lhonak for the night,

On the thirteenth day, we will be staying at Lhonak for the night. However, we will hike towards Pangpema view point standing at an elevation of 5,388 meters. After reaching to Pangpema , the process of which can be a little tiring, we will be gratified with the gorgeous views of mystical landscapes and mountain peaks like Kirat Chulim, Chang Himal and some other amazing peaks. It is indeed going to be a beautiful day.

On the fourteenth day, we head towards Ghunsa after a warm breakfast at Lhonak. It will take us about four to five hours to get there. We will be descending downhill towards Ramtang and then continue our trek towards Ghunsa. We will be staying overnight at Ghunsa.

Today, we will be leaving Ghunsa for Sele La bse camp situated at an elevation of 4200 meters. Slowly and gradually, we are getting closer to the summiting day of Bokta Peak. We will be making our way through the beautiful forest of rhododendron, pines, oaks and conifers. We will be staying overnight at Sele La base Camp.

On the sixteenth day, we will be making our way towards Cheram which will take us about three to four hours of walk from the base camp. Along the way, we will be accompanied by the glorious views of mountains like Jannu Himal, Makalu and some others. We will be crossing the incredible Mirgin La pass and Sibelapche La Pass situated at 4,480m and 4,730m respectively. We will be staying overnight at Cheram.

Today, Ramche is going to be our destination which is situated at an elevation of 4,580 meters. We will be walking along with the company of beautiful valleys and astounding landscapes along with the company of snowcapped mountain peaks. We will be reaching Ramche within six hours of walk and stay there for the night.

Yalung base Camp will be our camping destination for the day, which we will be reaching after walking for about four to five hours. We will leave Ramche after an early morning breakfast and head towards an elevation of 4500 meters. It won’t be a long day of trekking, rather a short one. We will be staying in our tented camp for the night.

On the nineteenth day, we will be leaving Yalung Base Camp and head for Bokta peak Base camp situated at an elevation of 5,123 meters. It will probably take us about five to six hours to reach Bokta Peak Base Camp. We will be making our way through slippery trails today, so it is very much required to be careful while walking. Today can be a little challenging as the ascent can be tiring but still the day is going to be an exciting one. We will be staying overnight in our tented camp at Bokta Peak Base camp.

Today, we will be resting at the Base camp and carry out some training regarding the climb. Our climbing experts will provide you with the training of use of gears and other practices relating to the summit. But specially, we will use this day for acclimatization purpose.

After proper rest and acclimatization, we will further be heading towards the High Camp which is situated at an elevation of 5,720 meters. It won’t be a long trek, however a short hike lasting for about three to four hours. Our team will settle the climbing equipments for the next day’s climb and we will be resting overnight in our tented camp.

On the twenty-first day, we will finally be climbing the astounding Bokta Peak, standing proudly at an altitude of 6,143 meters. We will begin the summit very early in the morning in order to avoid any harsh weathers and have enough time in our hands to descend back to the Base Camp. We will be following the instructions and guidance of our climbing expert who will lead the way. It is indeed going to be magical to be standing on top of the Bokta peak surrounded by magical peaks like Dhormo, Kumbhakarna, Nupche and some others. On the same day, we will be heading back to the Base Camp for our overnight stay.

From the Bokta Peak Base camp, we will further descend down to Yalung Base Camp situated at an elevation of 4500 meters which is likely to take us about four to five hours of walk. We will be retracing the steps which we took to summit the Bokta Peak. Today’s walk needs to be carefully taken as the path might be covered in snow and be slippery. We will be staying overnight in our tented camp.

Today, we will have our early morning breakfast at Yalung Base Camp and then head towards Tortong which is situated at an altitude of 2,995 meters which is likely to take us about five to six hours of walk. We will be moving through the dense forrest filled with the beautiful scent of wilderness. Village is situated near the Simbuwa River where we will be staying for the night.

On the twenty-fourth day, we will be descending downhill towards Yamphudin which is situated at an elevation of 2,080 meters. Today, we will be crossing the Simbuwa River through a wooden bridge which will further lead us towards Lasiya Bhanjyang. Then, we will be reaching Yamphudin within six hours of walk from Tortong. We will be staying overnight at Yamphudin.

Today, we will be leaving for Mamangkhe which is situated at the height of 1,785 meters taking us about five to six hours of walk. We will be walking alongside the Kabeli Khola and make our way towards Mamangkhe which will take us about six hours of walk. We will stay overnight at Mamangkhe.

We are slowly coming to the end of our incredible climbing adventure. We will be moving further towards Ksesuwa from Mamangkhe which is likely to take us about five to six hours of walk. Along the way, we will be encountered with the village of Phonpe and then with various magical waterfalls. We will stay at the beautiful village of Ksesuwa for the night.

On the twenty-seventh day, we make our way towards Lalikharka situated at the height of 2265 meters. We will be introduced with the beautiful villages of Bhanjyang and Kunjari along the way as we head towards lalikharka facing many ups and downs. We will be then led to the beautiful valley of Kabeli which will lead us further to Lali Kharka where we will be staying for the night.

On the twenty-eighth day, we will head back to the beautiful Taplejung village which will take us about four to five hours of walk. This will be the final day of our trekking. We won’t have to struggle our muscles for further more days. We will be staying at Taplejung for the night.

Today, we will be moving to Biratnagar on a drive from Taplejung after having our early morning breakfast. For the remaining day at Biratnagar, we can explore its beautiful existence through short strolls of by taking rickshaw rides.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Experience Required:

A good level of fitness and experience of mountain walking is required for the Everest Bokta Peak Climb. These tend to be longer treks with some more difficult days, some of which may involve walking at increased altitudes and more difficult terrain. Occasionally, there may be a longer day when negotiating the more challenging sections such as a mountain pass or viewing peak. Altitude may range up to 6000 meters.

Pre-Trip Meeting:

Prior to set off to Bokta Peak Climb b, we host a Pre-Trip meeting here in Kathmandu office on the 2nd day of your itinerary which starts in the evening during the dinner and introduce your trek Leader. It is an opportunity for individuals to ask questions about your Bokta Peak Climb as well as introduce you to one another.

Equipment Check List:

The specified basic equipments check lists should help you with your packing. Remember to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should not weigh more than 20 kg.

Head:-

For the head protection: Sun hat or scarf - Light balaclava or warm fleece hat - Sunglasses with UV protection.

Lower Body: -

A typical day:

At 6.30 am your Sherpa knocks on your door with a cup of good morning tea. Time for the Breakfast, tight up your bag pack and head off for today's trekking hiking for the next three to four hours then at pleasant spot we shall stop for an hour along the way for a well-prepared hot lunch. Later, a walk another three hours or so before you stop for the over night. The evening can be spent reading or chatting with your fellow hikers or trekking crew about the trip of the day. An asset can be pack of games to these nights; your trekking crew love teaching various Nepali card games and learning new Western games. Eventually, it's time to bed for a well deserved night.

Accommodation:

While at the Bokta Peak Climb, lodging options are limited so please do not expect the Ritz! Nepal Nomad utilizes simplistic family run lodges, with a large sociable central dining area and a cozy chimney burning fire. Lodges are on a twin share basis and we recommend you use your own sleeping bag. Accommodations in Bokta Peak Climb tend to have shared bathroom facilities and you may not always have access to a shower. Regardless of the lack of facilities, these lodges certainly have a rustic charm, most are blessed with spectacular views and being family run operations, they offer a great insight into the daily life of the Mountain people.

Insurance:

Nepal Nomad's booking terms & conditions of joining Bokta Peak Climb includes that you must be fully insured with medical, emergency rescue evacuations including trip cancellation insurance which should cover over 3000m to 6000m.

Altitude Sickness:
