Welcome to Kathmandu! You are moved to the warmth of you hotel. On your routine a pre- trek briefing will be scheduled for the discussion of the trekking program and we co-ordinate any last minute arrangements. You can get accustomed with your surroundings by going for hike down the street. Then we head to the street for the delicious dinner where Nepalese Cuisine is prepared in Nepalese Style which is mainly known for its healthy ingredients. This is your first overnight in Kathmandu.

On a second day of the journey, you will explore around on an organized sightseeing tour to the historical sites like Boudhanath Stupa which is known as the biggest shrines and Pashupatinath which is known for being the biggest holy temple for the Hindu. As we first stroll around Boudhanath, you will be captivated by the beautiful Stupa and mostly Buddhist people roaming around the Stupa. Your mind will surely be in peace as you walk around this holy place. At Pashupatinath, you will see Hindu Holy men (sadhus) and pilgrims performing ritual bathing and funeral pyres burning on the Ghats. To all the citizens of Nepal, cremation site is available that begins with royalty to the simple man on the street. You are free to relax at the hotel or take a last minute shopping at Thamel. After an early morning b/fast, we take the super flight from Kathmandu to Lukla at 2827m. The airstrip built by Sir Edmund Hillary and the Sherpas in the mid-1960s, Flight time is about 35 minutes. We will have time to explore the village while the Sherpa crew sort out and load the trekking equipment after landing. In the afternoon, we begin the trek by descending towards the Dudh Kosi River, where we join the main trail to Namche Bazaar, just above Chaurikharka at 2713m. The walking is easy and after passing through the small village of Ghat at 2550m, it’s a short walk to Phakding where we’ll stay overnight.

Leaving Phakding we come across the beautiful river as we come across we will see porter from the south ferrying goods to Namche. The path keeps us closer to the river valley as the way is inclined with the gorgeous rhododendron and the blue pine forest to that is splendid as the flowers bloom in the month of spring. We then pass the Dudh Koshi at Benkar where you can observe a mesmerizing glimpse of the snow peaks like Thamserku (6623m) and Kusum Kanguru (6369m). Then it is a brief walk to the Monjo (2835m) where we reach for lunch. We spend an overnight strolling and adjusting ourselves in the village.

It is day five of the journey; the trek for today is rather ruthless and includes the outrageous ascent to the Namche Bazaar. We start from Monjo and then take a short stroll to the National Park entrance before we come across the Dudh Koshi to Jorsale (2805 m). The hike proceeds to the upstream on flat terrain where we come to the right bank, to the junction of the Dudh Koshi and the Bhote Koshi rivers. From around here we begin steep ascent to the Namche Bazaar. Afterward, we cross the suspension bridge above the river; we gradually pace to the Namche. As the glimpse of mountain peaks like Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Everest and Taweche comes into for the first time, we get some wonderful photo opportunities. At Namche, we will have our lunch and then in the mean time, you are free to shop for ‘Tibetan artifacts’ or chill with the spectacular scenery.

After an early breakfast, we move down the hill to the Imja Khola and then ascend to the Tengboche which is one of the ancient and prestigious monasteries. We will then have a chit- chat with the kind monks from the monastery and spend some time and reflect the journey.

After an early breakfast, we then go down the hill as the path is lined with the spectacular rhododendron, forest of juniper and fir to Phunkitenga. We then have a welcome break and after a cup of tea, we will pass the Dudh Koshi and ascend to the Trashinga. From here the path outlines height of the valley through Shanasa and then a progress walk to Namche to have lunch. Afterwards we descend to Monjo and stay overnight there.

Today is the ultimate trip on these spectacular peaks. It is a brief walk along the valley as we make the ultimate climb to the flight at Lukla. We will have a farewell dinner with drinks and dance with the locals.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Experience Required:

A good level of fitness and experience of mountain walking is required for the Glimpse of Everest treks. These tend to be longer treks with some more difficult days, some of which may involve walking at increased altitudes and more difficult terrain. Occasionally, there may be a longer day when negotiating the more challenging sections such as a mountain pass or viewing peak. Altitude may range up to 5000 meters.

Pre-Trip Meeting:

Prior to set off to Glimpse of Everest treks, we host a Pre-Trip meeting here in Kathmandu office on the 2nd day of your itinerary which starts in the evening during the dinner and introduce your trek Leader. It is an opportunity for individuals to ask questions about your Glimpse of Everest trek as well as introduce you to one another.

Equipment Check List:

The specified basic equipments check lists should help you with your packing. Remember to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should not weigh more than 20 kg.

A typical day:

At 6.30 am your Sherpa knocks on your door with a cup of good morning tea. Time for the Breakfast, tight up your bag pack and head off for today's trekking hiking for the next three to four hours then at pleasant spot we shall stop for an hour along the way for a well-prepared hot lunch. Later, a walk another three hours or so before you stop for the over night. The evening can be spent reading or chatting with your fellow hikers or trekking crew about the trip of the day. Accommodation:

While at the Glimpse of Everest treks, lodging options are limited so please do not expect the Ritz!
