Today we will take a flight to reach Lukla from Kathmandu. It takes about thirty-five to forty minutes to reach Lukla. After a fruitful landing, we will have the opportunity to explore the town while the Sherpa group sort out and load the trekking gear. Today we start our trek from Phakding and head towards the Monjo. Today is our acclimatization day where we stay at Namche Bazaar. Today you will give rest to your bodies for further trekking. You will start trekking by rising towards Syangboche and further, trek to Khumjung Village, which is encompassed by Mt. Kongde Ri (6,187 m) and Mt. Thamserku (6,608 m). After early morning breakfast, we ascend to the north, Lobuche Peak (6119m). The most awaited day has arrived as we prepare very early in the morning for climbing Pokalde Peak and reaching all the way to the top of 5,806 meters. We enjoy our ascending process while sweating on the climb for some moments as climbing is as tiring. However, once we reach the top it will all be worth it. On this same day, we descend and head for Chhukung for our overnight stay at 4,730 meters.

As we begin marching towards our conclusion, Tengboche awaits us at 3,860 meters which is six hours of walk away from Chhukhung, We leave Chhukhung very early in the morning after breakfast and begin our long descend to Tengboche.

In the early morning after a delicious breakfast, we go down to the dense and beautiful forest of rhododendron and juniper. Then after a cup of tea, we cross the Dudh Koshi and climb for the trek to Trashinga. From here our path goes to the valley with Shanasa and then a moderate walk to Namche Bazaar where we take our lunch and go downhill to Monjo for an overnight stay.

Today will be our last trekking day, we will walk from the Monjo to Lukla. Dates & Availability

The given program is only a guideline pattern which we provide. Climbing can also be done with tailor-made itineraries to suit your specific requirements or with the departure date of your choice. However, Nepal Nomad doesn’t conduct any climbing adventure during the months of January, February, July and August due to the extreme climatic conditions which causes road blockades in the mountain regions creating ultimate risks.

It’s also vital to note a trekking and climbing of this type is prone to unpredictable calamities related to mountain weather, local politics, and transportation etc, which will be beyond Nepal Nomad’s control and as a result, this may require a change in your itinerary. Good to Know

Experience and Insurance Required in Pokalde Peak Climbing

As Pokalde peak is of moderate level but still a good level of fitness is required. Also, a mountain walking experience is required. There may be long days due to the weather conditions and the altitude range up to more than 5000 meters so the trekker has to be prepared both physically and mentally. Trip Meeting before Pokalde Peak trek and climb

We will hold a trip meeting before starting our trek. In this meeting, you will be introduced to your climbing guide and other members that will be going with you. It is also your chance to ask any questions related to the climbing trip.

A typical day in the Pokalde Peak Climbing Journey

As for a typical day, our Sherpa will bring you morning tea or coffee at 6.30 am. After breakfast, you will be getting ready for trekking which includes packing your bags and other necessary things. We will not be trekking for more than 5 to 8 hours per day.

Accommodation and meals in the Pokalde Peak Climbing

For the accommodation please do not expect anything more cause the places that we will be trekking in a remote area and they only simply lodge with a cozy chimney burning fire. You may also have to share the rooms and bathrooms. Despite the absence of many facilities, these lodges positively have a provincial appeal, most are honored with breathtaking perspectives, and being family-run activities, they offer an incredible understanding of the everyday life of the Mountain people.

Meals: You will be provided three meals which include Nepali, Sherpa, and Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Chinese and Indian cousins. Your everyday breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided at every lodge you will spend your night in while trekking. Your Farewell dinner, breakfast, and reception will be provided in Kathmandu Valley.

Altitude Sickness in the Pokalde Peak Climbing Trip

Before conducting the trip, we shall brief you about the risks which include the three stages of sickness from Elevation; Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE), and High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE). To be protected from these levels of sicknesses, we conduct hikes on our acclimatization days and carry out exercises. Depending upon the symptoms, we take the required actions.
