On the first day of your arrival in Kathmandu, you are welcomed with a lovely accommodation .Following; a pre-trek briefing will be scheduled on the trekking program alongside any last-minute arrangements shall be discussed. You will get familiar with the hike down the streets for its splendor. Later, in the evening you will be heading to an excellent Nepalese Cuisine dinner known for its healthy ingredients. Hence, the day is ended with your first overnight in the valley of Nepali people, its authenticity and culture.

The day begins with an early breakfast with a guided trip to the capital city Kathmandu. The attractions in Kathmandu is sacred and historical where the landmarks estimated world heritage sites that includes the holy Hindu temple Pashupatinath, the ancient Durbar Square, the famous Monkey Temple and place of peace also known as Boudhanath. During afternoon we take a pre-trip preparation and discuss as well as get together with our trek guide and additional team members. After an early morning b/fast, we take the super flight from Kathmandu to Lukla at 2827m. The airstrip built by Sir Edmund Hillary and the Sherpas in the mid-1960s, Flight time is about 35 minutes. We will have time to explore the village while the Sherpa crew sort out and load the trekking equipment after landing. In the afternoon, we begin the trek by descending towards the Dudh Kosi River, where we join the main trail to Namche Bazaar, just above Chaurikharka at 2713m. The walking is easy and after passing through the small village of Ghat at 2550m, it’s a short walk to Phakding where we’ll stay overnight.

From the Dudh Koshi River, we come across it by preceding our trek then enter and have our lunch at the Jorsale. After few hours, we still continue our trek and head to the Namche Bazaar where the trail is surrounded by the beautiful pines. We then enter inside the village on Saturday for the Saturday bazaar which passes the plateau. The picturesque Namche is wonderful with beautiful mountain ranges and the Dudh Koshi faces. Many things like the food, mountain climbing equipments are found in the village as it is the central hub of the area.

For the proper adjustment to the altitude, we stay at Namche for the second dusk. Namche is sincerely astonishing and prosperous small town which is located in a large hollow. It obtained its value during the period when lowland grains of Nepal were traded for the Tibetan salt. Today small amount of trade subsist like trading rugs and Chinese made goods, dried meats and salt in the village areas. It is suggested to see sunrise and sunset from the National Park Headquarters as you can see an amazing insight. The sight is breath taking with the amazing panorama of the Khumbu peaks and the beauty of the mighty Everest. After an early breakfast you are given number of choices like an amble to Thame (3810) over the Bhote Khola or a visit to the National Park Headquarters to see the fascinating displays of Sherpa culture and lifestyle. Amazing details of the park’s flora and fauna as well as the great mountaineering display can also be seen. You will be guided on hand for advice as well as walks.

Today, we trek easy hiking to get Thame village. Thame is the end valley of Khumbu Valley and iconic value of Thame is its terrain the people which are untouched by the effects of modern civilization. During the working we will past a large a large array of prayer flags, Chortens and the carved Mani stones.

Today, we will walk about 5:30 hrs to Lungden, mostly uphill, the trails pass by many old, walled Sherpa villages. You can observe varieties of plants and animals with unique Sherpa culture. With the Tibetan Yak Canavans, which is a trading route from the Namche to the Tibet, we can take a trail where we will stay at the guest house at the Lungde.

Following the steep ascend and descending towards the crest, we hike to the Renjo la pass which is also the renjo la pass height.We cross the frozen stream and walking through dramatic rock, we pass several yak kharkas and twin Renjo Lakes, the view from the top is incredible, you can have incredible sights including Kalapathar, Tengboche Monastery, chola glaciers and many more studding view of 7000 to 8000 meters peaks all around.Overnight stay at Gokyo

Beginning the journey in the early morning today we head towards the Gokyo peak where the ascend is steep for the first 30 minutes. With the astounding sights of the prayer flags, it takes about an hour to reach at the top. Right from here one can have this gorgeous sights of the peaks from the west to the east that includes the Gyachung Kang, Everest, Cho You and then further way upto the Makalu as we head down the hill, we can see the mesmerizing Gokyo Lake.

Fit and acclimatized, we leave Gokyo to descend to the second lake and drop down into Dole. Today is a spectacular day in terms of scenery as we follow the main trail north out of Gokyo. A short climb to a crest reveals a wonderful view towards Everest and Lhotse. We follow this main trail for a while longer, passing many traders selling Tibetan handicrafts, to a crossroads high above the Dudh Kosi. The trail to Everest drops down the hill but we turn off here and climb to cross the Mon La before reaching Phortse Tenga. From Phortse Tenga, the trail climbs steeply to Dole, through rhododendron and birch forest festooned with hanging mosses and lichens.

After breakfast we descend steeply through beautiful forests of juniper, rhododendron and fir to Dole. After a welcome break and perhaps a cup of tea we cross the Dudh Kosi, and ascend to Phortse.

Relishing a superb view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and close up view of Thamserku, after breakfast, we start our trek towards Tengboche. With few ups and downs, our trek follows on the gradual trail by overlooking magnificent view of the great Himalaya. Along the way, we can spot wild lives like pheasant, musk deer, or a herd of Himalayan Thar. The trail goes gradually down up to Kyangjuma. The trail then head to the Sanasa as this is also one of the primary path junction to the Everest Base Camp and the Gokyo lake. Passing the prayer flags festooned bridge over the river of the Dudh Koshi as well as by following the pine forest we reach at the Phunki Tenga, which comprises with the small army post amidst the alpine woods as well as the small settlement with a couple of the tea houses. We then take towards the challenging ascend after a relaxed lunch at the Phunki Tenga. We then make our way to the forests of the pine and ultimately reach at the Tengboche which is an astounding place for the close shot of the Everest, Nuptse and the Ama Dablam. Tengboche monastery is also one of the biggest Buddhist Monastery in the entire Khumbu region where we stay for an overnight stay lodge at the Tengboche.

After the early breakfast, we move downward steeply through beautiful forests of juniper, rhododendron and fir to Phunkitenga. Following a welcome break and perhaps a cup of tea we cross the Dudh Kosi, and climb upward to Trashinga.The route contours above the valley through Shanasa and its then a gradual walk to Namche Bazaar where we have lunch and descend to Monjo for an overnight stay.

Today is our last day of trekking. It’s only a brief walk along the valley before we make the final climb up to the airstrip at Lukla. Lunch is served at our lodge and the afternoon is free for you to wander around, relax or perhaps have a hot shower! In the evening, we’ll have a farewell dinner followed by a few celebratory drinks. We dance to some Sherpa dance steps with our Sherpa crew who we’ve come to know so well over the weeks.

Most flights from Lukla to Kathmandu are schedule early morning to avoid the strong winds. It’s a scenic flight from Lukla to Kathmandu for about forty-five minutes. We touch down at Kathmandu and transferred to our hotel. But please note, sometimes the flight can be delayed or canceled in the mountain regions of this type due to inclement weather and other unpredictable reasons beyond our control. Our guests are expected to be patient.

After breakfast and our last day in Kathmandu, our vehicle and escorts will be on standby to drop you to the international airport three hours before our scheduled flight back home. USEFUL INFORMATION

Experience Required:

A good level of fitness and experience of mountain walking is required for the Renjo La Pass trek. These tend to be longer treks with some more difficult days, some of which may involve walking at increased altitudes and more difficult terrain. Occasionally, there may be a longer day when negotiating the more challenging sections such as a mountain pass or viewing peak.

Pre-Trip Meeting:

Prior to set off to Renjo La Pass trek, we host a Pre-Trip meeting here in Kathmandu office on the 2nd day of your itinerary which starts in the evening during the dinner and introduce your trek Leader. It is an opportunity for individuals to ask questions about your Renjo La Pass trek as well as introduce yourself to one another.

Equipment Check List:

The specified basic equipments check lists should help you with your packing. Remember to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should not weigh more than 20 kg.

Head:-

For the head protection: Sun hat or scarf - Light balaclava or warm fleece hat - Sunglasses with UV protection.

Lower Body: -

Under Garments - Hiking shorts - Lightweight cotton long pants - Light weight hiking thermal bottoms - Fleece or wool pants – Waterproof trekking trousers -

Feet: - lightweight thin inner socks - Thick, warm wool hiking socks - Hiking boots with spare laces - Camp shoes – Gaiters (optional)

Upper Body:-

As for the upper body’s shirts – Hiking and light weight thermal tops - Fleece jacket or pullover - Fleece Wind-Stopper jacket (optional) - Waterproof shell jacket - Down vest and/or jacket - Base layer shirts - Warm jacket (down)*

Hands: - gloves that are Lightweight - Heavyweight gloves or mittens with a waterproof shell outer.

Sleeping bag (comfort rated –10ºC)*- Sleeping bag liner - Head torch with spare bulbs and batteries - Small pad or combination.

Trekking Bags: - Large bag for keeping items dry inside trek bag, Daypack 250 to 30litres. - Thermarest sleeping pad - Water bottles - Water purification tablets.

Basic First Aid Kit: - Antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Imodium), altitude (Diamox), painkillers, plasters and blister treatment, insect repellent, and re-hydration salts (Dioralite). Glucose tablets and multi-vitamin tablets are also a good idea.

Toiletries:- 1 medium sized quick drying towel - Tooth brush/paste - Multipurpose soap - Deodorants - Nail clippers - Face and body moisturizer - Feminine products - Small mirror - Wet wipes - toilet roll/Tissue Extras - Antibacterial hand wash

A typical day:

At 6.30 am your Sherpa knocks on your door with a cup of good morning tea. Time for the Breakfast, tight up your bag pack and head off for today's trekking hiking for the next three to four hours then at pleasant spot we shall stop for an hour along the way for a well-prepared hot lunch. Later, a walk another three hours or so before you stop for the over night. The evening can be spent reading or chatting with your fellow hikers or trekking crew about the trip of the day. An asset can be pack of games to these nights; your trekking crew love teaching various Nepali card games and learning new Western games. Eventually, it's time to bed for a well deserved night.

Accommodation:

While at the Renjo La Pass trek, lodging options are limited so please do not expect the Ritz! Nepal Nomad utilizes simplistic family run lodges, with a large sociable central dining area and a cozy chimney burning fire. Lodges are on a twin share basis and we recommend you use your own sleeping bag. Accommodations in the Renjo La Pass trek tend to have shared bathroom facilities and you may not always have access to a shower. Regardless of the lack of facilities, these lodges certainly have a rustic charm, most are blessed with spectacular views and being family run operations, they offer a great insight into the daily life of the Mountain people.

Insurance:

Nepal Nomad's booking terms & conditions of joining Gokyo Lake Trekking includes that you must be fully insured with medical, emergency rescue evacuations including trip cancellation insurance which should cover over 3000m to 6000m.

Altitude Sickness:

Itinerary of the Renjo La Pass trek is designed to ensure that there is plenty of times for adequate occurs as a result of acclimatization and cases of mountain sickness are rare. The common Symptoms are headaches, nausea, irregular breathing, insomnia and the swelling of fingers and glands. Medical Treatment is to descend to a lower altitude as quickly as possible which normally results in rapid improvement and recovery.

Meals:

On Renjo La Pass trek, three meals on full board basis will be provided (Nepali, Sherpa, and Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Chinese and Indian cousins). Every day dinner and breakfast will be placed and taken in the same lodge you spend over night but Lunch will be taken on your way to next village. Farewell dinner, breakfast and reception will be provided in Kathmandu.
