Saribung peak Climbing 6,346 m expedition is lately explored peaks for climbing in Nepal. It is undoubtedly an isolated area in the foothills of Mt. Damodar Himal, 6,358 m, near the Damodar Kunda a sacred pond located at, 4,890 m border with Nepal-Tibet. Saribung peak is located to the north western part of the country, primarily in Mustang region. The trekking trail is a rugged and challenging as it is located at the remote corner of the country.

From where will this expedition begin?

Saribung expedition trip begins with a short flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, subsequently to Jomsom and then you will have trekking continue to Kagbeni and then Chele, Geling, Tsarang and through Lo Manthang, enter into Dhi Gaon, Lury Gomba, Ghuma Tanti, Namta Khola and finally, you will reach at Saribung peak base camp, where you will have a rest for one day for acclimatization, once you are ready, you will have expedition and then explore all around. After exploring all around, you will retrace back to Saribung base camp and then retrace back to Nogaru, through Phu Gaon, you will enter in to Koto Manang and then via Jagat, you will finally retrace back to Besisahar and then drive back to Kathmandu.

On your arrival, our representative will be on a standby .After you are transferred to the hotel a pre-trek briefing on the trekking program will be scheduled. You can refresh yourself with the surroundings as you can go down the streets for a walk.

On this particular day, we explore around Kathmandu City and visit to the two world heritage sites. This includes a visit to the Boudhanath Stupa known for its unique structure and as the biggest shrines in the world. For a more lighthearted day, a visit to Pashupatinath, situated on the banks of the holy Baghmati River which is considered as a home to the hundreds of thousands Hindus people and as the famous Hindu temple across the country where you will see Hindu holy men (sadhus) and pilgrims performing ritual bathing, and occasionally, funeral pyres burning on the Ghats. The cremation site here is used by the royal family and also for the simple man living next door. In the early afternoon you can relax to your hotel or do last minute shopping. From Kathmandu, we take an early morning flight to Pokhara after having an early breakfast. After a fruitful landing to Pokhara we will move to hotel and refresh ourselves. After some refreshment we will be ready to explore some amazing places of Pokhara. Overnight will be in Pokhara.

From Pokhara, we start to Jomsom which is the headquarter district of Mustang passing the deepest Kali Gandaki. The view is mind blowing as you go on a path with grand Himalayas. Spilling out of the Tibetan Plateau, you can see the dazzling Kali Gandaki River. You can see the antique town Kagbeni after a walk.

With the company of the beautiful Mani walls, landscape and the Buddhist chorten we trek to the Tangbe village through the Kaligandaki River bank. We have a lunch at the Chhuksang after an hour, we then again proceed with our trek to the over the bank of the Kaligandaki river. There are 16 caves on the path of the trail of above the tunnel of the Kaligandaki River. The trail ascends to the fantastic sight of the Kaligandaki River and the Nilgiri Himal that connects to Tsaile. We stay for an overnight at the Tsaile.

Ascending for half an hour the journey from climbing up to point, we cross the river and we are at the base of Shyangboche. There are lots of Chorten at the sacred place of Mustang. After 6 hours trek, we reach at Geling which has the least population and mud house village. We stay at overnight at the accommodation.

For today, we have enough power bars and enough water as today is hardest day in the trip. We then walk to the Mustang area of the driest place. It takes about 5 hrs to see the beautiful, majestic and fresh mountains sight as we hike. In the afternoon, we will reach to Tsarang where red Gompa home with the gathering of thankas and statues as well as huge Dzong (fortress).

It takes about 6 hrs to reach to Lo Manthang. We will leave for lo Manthang after breakfast. The lane has the beautiful sight of ups and downs. There is mesmerizing view of white snow mountains and hills as well as Chorten. We will be at Lo Manthang after some hours and stay for an overnight at accommodation.

Lo Manthang is considered as one of the famous place in the Mustang. Being the capital of Mustang, it comprises of the finest Buddhism monastery and about hundred and fifty houses. We stay here for the acclimatization for today exploring the four major monasteries and getting closer to the Nyphu Cave monastery and the spectacular view overall.

We will beat the Dhi Village after coming out of the Lo Manthang and then we descend down the path and reach at the Yara village, the journey is extremely beautiful and has many caves through the way. We will spend an overnight at the Yara.

Out from the Yara, we make a short trip to the Luri Gompa and then discover the path on the way where we visit the beautiful and ancient Monasteries. We are headed to the Luri Cave Monastery in the beginning of the ascent at 4500m which is renowned and is the ancient in the Mustang region of the 15th century. Then we can observe various statues and the images of the Deities and the Protectors. Later, we visit the Luri cave monastery that is the other monastery and is wonderful and ancient. We then stay for an overnight at the Luri.

Out from the monastery of the Luri cave we go downhill to the gorge and combine the Yara- Ghuma Thanti Trail. Through the pastures from the hilltop the walk is extremely awesome. With the fabulous sight of the Mount Dhaulagiri, the trekking becomes even more awesome and then we continue to go downhill and reach at the Ghuma Thanti, then to the sacred Damodar Kunda Lakes which is the place that shelters the Buddhist pilgrims. We stay for an overnight at the Ghuma Thanti.

It is day 13 as we head back from the beautiful Ghuma Thanti, Along the way it takes about 4-5 hrs to reach and ascend up to the Bacha Khola which is at the altitude if 4890m. It is extremely splendid and unquestionably does not fail to amaze us.

After we spend our time at the Bacha Khola and appreciate the beauty of this Lake, we ascend today even more with an altitude of the 5010m for 4 to 5 hrs and ultimately reach at the Damodar Kund.

We stay for an overnight at the Saribung Peak for the acclimatization in the beautiful surroundings. And then further prepare ourselves for the next path. We then stay for an overnight at the Base camp.

We trek for the 4-5 hrs today and trek from the Damodar Kund to the Japanese Base Camp, the path is wonderful and a fun day to view the scenic surrounding from us. We stay for an overnight at the Japanese Base Camp.

Today we head to the path which is icy and snow covered while we gradual ascent. Today’s trek is challenging and hard so we rest at every places while we can then continue to the hike at the Damodar Himal and the Khumjunggar Himal and reach at the camping site at Camp I. Our Nomad team will make necessary preparations and then we set up our camps

Today is the day that we were desperately waiting for. Fully acclimatized and properly equipped with all the necessary climbing gears, we start early as the strong winds after midday can create obstacles for reaching the summit. We then head to the summit of the Saribung Peak by following our climbing experts. High peaks like Himlung, Bhrikuti and Gyajikang reward us then we descend to the Bhrikuti Camp eventually.

Until we reach to the Pho Gaon we start our trek with snowy peaks views on the barren valley and the Tibetan plateau. Different religion, culture and the natural diversity with beautiful ethnic groups like Ghale, Gurung and Lama makes it even more meaningful. We then head to the Pho Gaon out from the Bhrikuti camp

Following the narrow trail and then descending at the Kyang, we head for the Khampa settlement which has a lot to offer from the ruined forts like the there are places where Chyaku, Jhunam and Kyang places are found. We then continue our hike to the Meta and then we can observe the splendid mesmerizing view of the Lamjung Himal and the Annapurna II. We stay for an overnight at the Meta.

Initially, the trek of the day for a while goes through steep downward trail and walks through a pine forest passing many small streams and charming water fall near the Dharmashala on the trail. Before reaching to the Koto, our peak climbing trip comes to many suspension bridges then we stay for an overnight at Koto

From Koto you will be heading to one of the rugged venture to the Koto. The road can be difficult for the passengers but on the way you will be able to witness amazing sights. On the Annapurna Circuit trek route, you will be hiking where splendid waterfalls and the beautiful gorges can be seen. We will reach to Dharapani at dinner.

The part of the ascending trip comes across and beyond the Marshyangdi River, We then at first reach to Koto and after a while with the scenic views, we come across the Tal village and then to the Chyamje in while following the dense forest and the rocky path with the first drops down to the river.

As wind can create problem to fly the aircraft in the afternoon, flights are scheduled in the morning. Flights can be delayed depending upon the weather situation which is beyond our control. After the long mountain journey, we fly back to Kathmandu and stay overnight.

Today is the final day to settle your thoughts and chill in Kathmandu after a trek or do some shopping and sightseeing near the downtown. The main cause for having this day is just unless there are any delays or buffer/ cancellations of flight back from Lukla to reduce the risk of flight delay back home.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Experience Required:

A good level of physical fitness and experience of mountain walking is required for the Saribung Peak Climbing as it is one of rugged and challenging peak of Nepal. Trekkers should be prepared both mentally and physically before climbing.

Pre-Trip Meeting:

Before setting off to Saribung Peak Climbing, we host a Pre-Trip meeting here in Kathmandu office which will be scheduled during the dinner and introduce your trek Leader. It is an also a great chance to ask questions about your Saribung Peak Climbing as well as introduce yourself to one another.

Equipment Check List:

The specified basic equipments check lists should help you with your packing. Remember to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should not weigh more than 20 kg.

Head:-

For the head protection: Sun hat or scarf - Light balaclava or warm fleece hat - Sunglasses with UV protection.

Lower Body: -

Under Garments - Hiking shorts - Lightweight cotton long pants - Light weight hiking thermal bottoms - Fleece or wool pants – Waterproof trekking trousers -

A typical day:

At 6.30 am your Sherpa knocks on your door with a cup of good morning tea. Time for the Breakfast, tight up your bag pack and head off for today's trekking hiking for the next three to four hours then at pleasant spot we shall stop for an hour along the way for a well-prepared hot lunch. Later, a walk another three hours or so before you stop for the over night. The evening can be spent reading or chatting with your fellow hikers or trekking crew about the trip of the day. An asset can be pack of games to these nights; your trekking crew love teaching various Nepali card games and learning new Western games. Eventually, it's time to bed for a well deserved night.

Accommodation:

While at the Saribung Peak Climbing, lodging options are limited so please do not expect the Ritz! Nepal Nomad utilizes simplistic family run lodges, with a large sociable central dining area and a cozy chimney burning fire. Lodges are on a twin share basis and we recommend you use your own sleeping bag. Accommodations in the Saribung Peak Climbing tend to have shared bathroom facilities and you may not always have access to a shower. Regardless of the lack of facilities, these lodges certainly have a rustic charm, most are blessed with spectacular views and being family run operations, they offer a great insight into the daily life of the Mountain people.

Insurance:

Nepal Nomad's booking terms & conditions of joining upper mustang trekking includes that you must be fully insured with medical, emergency rescue evacuations including trip cancellation insurance which should cover over 3000m to 6000m.

Altitude Sickness:

Itinerary of the Saribung Peak Climbing is designed to ensure that there is plenty of times for adequate occurs as a result of acclimatization and cases of mountain sickness are rare. The common Symptoms are headaches, nausea, irregular breathing, insomnia and the swelling of fingers and glands. Medical Treatment is to descend to a lower altitude as quickly as possible which normally results in rapid improvement and recovery.

Meals:

On Saribung Peak Climbing, three meals on full board basis will be provided (Nepali, Sherpa, and Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Chinese and Indian cousins). Every day dinner and breakfast will be placed and taken in the same lodge you spend over night but Lunch will be taken on your way to next village. Farewell dinner, breakfast and reception will be provided in Kathmandu.
