The 19 days Thorong Peak climbing starts in Kathmandu City and then we head through Dharapani and Chame to Jagat and eventually to Pisang. After your arrival in Kathmandu airport, one of our team members will be there to pick you up. He will drive you to your respective hotel. After some refreshment, we will conduct short discussions about your upcoming journey to Thorong Peak. You can ask any question regarding the trip and you will be also introduced to your guide and other members who will be travelling with you on your trip.

You will be spending your second day in the city of temples. After having breakfast, our tour guide will escort you around the beautiful city. You will be conducting visits to various heritage sites, some of which are even listed in the world heritage like Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath and some other amazing heritages. Later in the evening, we will need to be prepared for the journey for which we will have some discussions where all your queries will be answered. We will be staying overnight in Kathmandu.

On the third day, we will be driving to Dharapani from Kathmandu. It is likely to take us about eleven to Twelve hours to reach Dharapani which is situated at an elevation of 1860 meters. We will be staying overnight at Dharapani before we begin our trekking journey on the following day.

Today, we will be heading for Chame after having an early morning breakfast at Dharapani which will take us about five to six hours to reach. The elevation of 2,670 will be our final destination for the day where we will be staying for the night. Along the way, we will be awarded with majestic sight of Annapurna II. Various fluttering prayer flags will welcome us along the way.

Today, we will be heading for Chame after having an early morning breakfast at Dharapani which will take us about five to six hours to reach. The elevation of 2,670 will be our final destination for the day where we will be staying for the night. Along the way, we will be awarded with majestic sight of Annapurna II. Various futtering prayer flags will welcome us along the way.

Today, after having an early morning breakfast at Lower Pisang, we will be heading for Manang Village which is situated at an elevation of 3,540 meters. It is likely to take us about five to six hours to get there. As we go along the trials, we can get the mesmerizing sight of Yaks grazing in the grassland. We will certainly be welcomed with joyous faces as we rich the village. We will be staying overnight at Manang Village.

Our seventh day of the trek is separated for resting purpose in which we will be resting at Manang Village for acclimatization. You can seize the opportunity to explore and observe the serene beauty of the village and hike to Gangapurna Glacier Lake or hike up to the lap of mountain to take bless from a local Tantric guru.

On the eighth day of the trek, we will be heading for Yak Kharka from the village of Manang. It will take us about four to five hours to the elevation of 4020 meters which is our final destination for the day. It is going to be a slow day as we move ahead steadily. We will be crossing the gracious Ghunsang and Ghyangchang River along the way. We will be staying overnight at Yak Kharka

The ninth day leads us all the way to Thorong Phedi which is situated at an elevation of 4,525 meters. We will leave Yak Kharka after having an early morning breakfast and conduct a walk lasting for about six to seven hours to reach the final destination where we will be having our overnight stay. Thorong Phedi lies right at the bottom of the amazing Thorong La pass.

Today, we will be making our way to reach Thorong La Pass which is situated at the height of 5,416 meters. It is likely to take us about five to six hours to get there from Thorong Phedi which we will be leaving after an early morning breakfast. We will be beginning the journey very early in order to avoid any difficult situations of climate like the strong winds. It is going to be a challenging day but equally worth it. We will be staying overnight at our tented camp settled in a favorable area around Thorong La Pass.

The day has been separated for preparation purpose. You will be explained and guided about what needs to be done and what mustn’t be done while climbing. You will be taught about the use of gears and every other thing that needs to be taken into consideration.

This is a day separated for flexibility in the plans. Sometimes the weather takes on an unpredictable pattern which increases the risk of climbing and we might have to delay the climb.

Finally on this day of our Thorong Peak trekking and climbing journey, we will be summiting the Thorong Peak situated at an elevation of 6,144 meters. You will be required to properly follow the instructions given by our climbing experts. We will be beginning the summit very early in the morning as on the same day we will be heading back to Muktinath. We will be stunned with the magical views of valleys, mountains like Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. It is indeed going to be a moment of pride to stand on the top of Thorong Peak.

On the fourteenth day, we will be heading for Kagbeni after a wonderful stay at Muktinath. It is likely to take us about four to five hours to reach Kagbeni which is situated at an elevation of 2,810 meters. Along the way, we will be visiting the temple of Muktinath and devour ourselves with its blessings. We will be encountered with various remote villages along the way. We will be staying overnight at Kagbeni.

Today, we will be making our way towards Jomsom after having an early morning breakfast at Kagbeni. We will be making our way through the beautiful village of Lubre. It is likely to take us about five to six hours to reach the final destination for the day. We will be following the trails led by the flow of Kaligandaki River. We will be staying overnight at Jomsom.

We will be flying high above magnificent Himalayas and Mystical Landscapes connecting to Pokhara. It is indeed going to be a scenic flight of about forty minutes.

On the seventeenth day of the incredible journey, we will finally be flying back to Kathmandu from Pokhara. It is going to be a thrilling and scenic flight. You can use the remaining day by touring around the beautiful city of Kathmandu.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Experience Required:

A good level of fitness and experience of mountain walking is required for the Thorong Peak Climbing. These tend to be longer treks with some more difficult days, some of which may involve walking at increased altitudes and more difficult terrain. Occasionally, there may be a longer day when negotiating the more challenging sections such as a mountain pass or viewing peak. Altitude may range up to 5000 meters.

Pre-Trip Meeting:

Prior to set off to the Thorong Peak Climbing., we host a Pre-Trip meeting here in Kathmandu office on the 2nd day of your itinerary which starts in the evening during the dinner and introduce your trek Leader. It is an opportunity for individuals to ask questions about your the Thorong Peak Climbing as well as introduce yourself to one another.

Equipment Check List:

The specified basic equipments check lists should help you with your packing. Remember to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should not weigh more than 20 kg.

Head:-

For the head protection: Sun hat or scarf - Light balaclava or warm fleece hat - Sunglasses with UV protection.

Lower Body: -

Under Garments - Hiking shorts - Lightweight cotton long pants - Light weight hiking thermal bottoms - Fleece or wool pants – Waterproof trekking trousers -

A typical day:

At 6.30 am your Sherpa knocks on your door with a cup of good morning tea. Time for the Breakfast, tight up your bag pack and head off for today's trekking hiking for the next three to four hours then at pleasant spot we shall stop for an hour along the way for a well-prepared hot lunch. Later, a walk another three hours or so before you stop for the over night. The evening can be spent reading or chatting with your fellow hikers or trekking crew about the trip of the day. An asset can be pack of games to these nights; your trekking crew love teaching various Nepali card games and learning new Western games. Eventually, it's time to bed for a well deserved night.

Accommodation:

While at the Thorong Peak Climbing lodging options are limited so please do not expect the Ritz! Nepal Nomad utilizes simplistic family run lodges, with a large sociable central dining area and a cozy chimney burning fire. Lodges are on a twin share basis and we recommend you use your own sleeping bag. Accommodations in the Thorong Peak Climbing tend to have shared bathroom facilities and you may not always have access to a shower. Regardless of the lack of facilities, these lodges certainly have a rustic charm, most are blessed with spectacular views and being family run operations, they offer a great insight into the daily life of the Mountain people.

Insurance:

Nepal Nomad's booking terms & conditions of joining Thorong Peak Climbing includes that you must be fully insured with medical, emergency rescue evacuations including trip cancellation insurance which should cover over 3000m to 6000m.

Altitude Sickness:

Itinerary of the Thorong Peak Climbing is designed to ensure that there is plenty of times for adequate occurs as a result of acclimatization and cases of mountain sickness are rare. The common Symptoms are headaches, nausea, irregular breathing, insomnia and the swelling of fingers and glands. Medical Treatment is to descend to a lower altitude as quickly as possible which normally results in rapid improvement and recovery.

Meals:

On Thorong Peak Climbing, three meals on full board basis will be provided (Nepali, Sherpa, and Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Chinese and Indian cousins). Every day dinner and breakfast will be placed and taken in the same lodge you spend over night but Lunch will be taken on your way to next village. Farewell dinner, breakfast and reception will be provided in Kathmandu.
