Thorong Peak Climbing Journey

The Thorong Climbing Trip starts with the arrival in the beautiful Kathmandu City and then, leads for trekking through Dharapaniat at 1,860m and Chame at 2,650m to Jagat and eventually to Pisang. The Thorong Peak Climbing Journey will also include crossing the Thorong La high pass at 5,416m, often discovered through Thorong La Pass Trekking while being accompanied by the beautiful views of the snowcapped Mt. After your arrival at Kathmandu airport, one of our team members will be there to pick you up. He will drive you to your respective hotel. After some refreshments, we will conduct short discussions about your upcoming journey to Thorong Peak. You can ask any question regarding the trip and you will be also introduced to your guide and other members who will be traveling with you on your trip.

On the first day, we will be driving to Dharapani from Kathmandu. It is likely to take us about eleven to twelve hours to reach Dharapani which is situated at an elevation of 1860 meters. We will be staying overnight at Dharapani before we begin our trekking journey on the following day.

Today, we will be heading for Chame after having an early morning breakfast at Dharapani which will take us about five to six hours to reach. The elevation of 2,670 will be our final destination for the day where we will be staying for the night. Along the way, we will be awarded the majestic sight of Annapurna II. Today, we will be heading for Chame after having an early morning breakfast at Dharapani which will take us about five to six hours to reach. Today, after having an early morning breakfast at Lower Pisang, we will be heading for Manang Village which is situated at an elevation of 3,540 meters. It is likely to take us about five to six hours to get there. As we go along the trials, we can get the mesmerizing sight of Yaks grazing in the grassland. We will certainly be welcomed with joyous faces as we reach the village. We will be staying overnight at Manang Village.

Our fifth day of the trek is separated for acclimatizing purposes in which we will be conducting exercises with the involvement of short walks at and around Manang Village. You can seize the opportunity to explore and observe the serene beauty of the village and hike to GangapurnaGlacier Lake or hike up to the lap of the mountain to take a blessing from a local Tantric guru.

On the sixth day of the trek, we will be heading for Yak Kharka from the village of Manang. It will take us about four to five hours to the elevation of 4020 meters which is our final destination for the day. It is going to be a slow day as we move ahead steadily. We will be crossing the gracious Ghunsang and Ghyangchang Rivers along the way. We will be staying overnight at Yak Kharka

The seventh day leads us all the way to Thorong Phedi which is situated at an elevation of 4,525 meters. We will leave Yak Kharka after having an early morning breakfast and conduct a walk lasting for about six to seven hours to reach the final destination where we will be having our overnight stay. Thorong Phedi lies right at the bottom of the amazing Thorong La pass.

Today, we will be making our way to reach Thorong La Pass which is situated at the height of 5,416 meters. It is likely to take us about five to six hours to get there from Thorong Phedi which we will be leaving after early morning breakfast. We will be beginning the journey very early in order to avoid any difficult situations of climate like the strong winds. It is going to be a challenging day but equally worth it. We will be staying overnight at our tented camp settled in a favorable area around Thorong La Pass.

The day has been separated for preparation purposes. You will be explained and guided about what needs to be done and what mustn’t be done while climbing. You will be taught about the use of gears and every other thing that needs to be taken into consideration.

This is a day separated for flexibility in the plans. Sometimes the weather takes on an unpredictable pattern which increases the risk of climbing and we might have to delay the climb.

Finally, on this day of our Thorong Peak trekking and climbing journey, we will be summiting Thorong Peak situated at an elevation of 6,144 meters. You will be required to properly follow the instructions given by our climbing experts. We will be beginning the summit very early in the morning as on the same day we will be heading back to Muktinath. We will be stunned by the magical views of valleys, mountains like Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. It is indeed going to be a moment of pride to stand on the top of Thorong Peak.

On the twelfth day, we will be heading for Kagbeni after a wonderful stay at Muktinath. It is likely to take us about four to five hours to reach Kagbeni which is situated at an elevation of 2,810 meters. Along the way, we will be visiting the temple of Muktinath and devour ourselves with its blessings. We will be encountered various remote villages along the way, We will be visiting Kagbeni and taking lunch. Today, we will be making our way toward Jomsom after having lunch at Kagbeni. We will be making our way through the beautiful village of Ekle Bhatti. It is likely to take us about five to six hours to reach the final destination for the day. We will be following the trails led by the flow of the Kaligandaki River. We will be staying overnight at Jomsom.

Experience and Insurance Required for Thorong Peak Climb

Physically fit with comfort in walking along with some mountaineering knowledge can help you accomplish the Thorong Peak Climbing Venture. For conducting the Thorong Peak Climb journey, you will be required to get insured on medical, trip cancellation, and on the grounds of an emergency evacuation.

Accommodation and meals in Thorong Peak Summiting adventure

While at the Thorong Peak Climbing Journey, the accommodation availability will be limited and will not be greatly luxurious. So, we request you remain prepared for adjustments and the possibility of having to use shared bathroom facilities. In the case of meals in the Thorong Peak Climbing Adventure, you will be provided with three different meals at three different times of the day which include Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner respectively.

Transportation Facilities and Responsible Travel in the Thorong Peak Climb Adventure

Private Vehicles will be used before getting to the trekking area, however, you can also travel via airplane or helicopter if you wish to. Likewise, for responsible travel, we will be conducting the journey in such a way that it doesn’t add any alterations or harm to the natural environment while acting respectfully towards the social environment.

Pre-Trip Meeting

A meeting shall be conducted among the participants of the Thorong Peak Trip before going for Thorongpeak climbing for the proper and professional preparation for the thrilling and exciting Thorong Peak Expedition.

Altitude Sickness in the Thorong Peak Climbing

The risk of altitude sickness is given in the mountaineering journey to over 6000 meters and we need to remain prepared for that. Thus, we prepare the itinerary in a friendly manner with the rest and acclimatization days including hiking as well as conducting altitude tackling exercises. If we face any of the three types of sicknesses which are; Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE), and High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE), we shall resort to first-aid service and even evacuation if necessary.

Nepal Nomad shall lead you to a safer area or apply necessary first-aid services or even call for help from helicopter evacuation services in extreme cases of emergencies in the journey of Thorong Peak Climbing.

  • With the company of Nepal Nomad, any type of adventurous journey like the Thorong Peak Summiting shall be safe and secure no matter your gender or the nature of your trip.

  • The conditions of toilet facilities are of basic level in the lodges and hotels which we will be encountering in the Thorong Peak Journey but in the off-beaten tracks, it shall be troublesome to locate a proper toilet facility and thus, human wastes need to be disposed of through alternate ways. However, as long as you are in the city, you need not worry about the luxury of the toilet facilities.

  • Professional level Thorong Peak Climbing equipment can certainly be arranged through renting services in Nepal but basic level gears are not usually available for rent.

  • As long as you are staying in the lower regions, there won’t be much trouble in connecting and communicating with your close ones even on a regular basis but as you further step into the higher areas, regular communication can be quite a big deal.
