The 20 days Tilman Pass Trek brings you closer to the divine existence of wilderness and wildlife. Our team member will be there to pick you up from the Tribhuwan International airport after your landing. Then you will be escorted to your accommodations where you can get refreshed before taking stroll around the cozy streets of Kathmandu. In the evening, you will be served Nepali Cuisine dinner with great hospitality.

On the second day, you will be exploring the beautiful city of Kathmandu and our professional touring guide will be there to escort you around the incredible Kathmandu Valley. There are various heritage sites which you can visit today like Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath , Basantapur Durbar square and many more; some of which are even listed in the world heritage sites. Later in the evening, we will be conducting trip briefing discussions and fully be prepared for the upcoming journey.

Today, after having our breakfast, we will hop in a private vehicle and drive towards Syabrubensi Bazaar which is situated at an elevation of 1,460 meters. It is likely to take us about seven hours to reach there. It will indeed be a scenic drive with the incredible view of Trishuli River along the way. We will be staying overnight at Syabrubesi Bazaar.

We begin our trek from fourth day as we head for Lama Hotel from Syabrubesi Bazaar. It will take us about six hours to reach an elevation of 2,560 meter. We will be making our way through the forest of pines and rhododendrons. If lucky, we can certainly spot some birds with unique features. We will have an overnight stay at Lama Hotel.

Langtang village will be our destination for the day. We will be leaving Lama Hotel after having an early morning breakfast and then, conduct a walk for about six hours to reach Langtang village situated at an elevation of 3,455 meters. The path includes the areas containing dense wild habitat which is a home to various special floras and faunas. Moving through various ups and downs, we will be staying overnight at Langtang village.

On the sixth day, our destination is going to be Kyanjin Gompa situated at an altitude of 3,817 meters. It will probably take us about four hours to get there which is quite less in comparision to other days. We will be leaving Langtang village after having an early morning breakfast and conduct the journey along with company of great views of mountain peaks like Mt. Lantang Lirung. We will stay at Kyanjin Gompa for the night.

The seventh day is here for acclimatization purpose as we will be facing severe change in altitude in the upcoming days. You can take your time to visit Kyanjin Gompa monastery and explore the surroundings as well as conduct a hike to Kyanjin ri or even climb Tsherko Ri.

Today, we will be moving for Langshisa Kharka from Kyanjin Gompa. Langshisa Kharka is situated at an elevation of 4100 meters which is going to take us about six hours to reach. We will be making our way through various yak pastures and even enjoy the gracious sight of yak caravans. We will be staying at Langshisa Kharka for the night.

On the ninth day, we will be going for Moraine Camp after having a warm breakfast at Langshisa Kharka. It will probably take us about six hours to reach the altitude of 4,650 meters where the Moraine Camp is situated at. We will be walking through lush green vegetations and face various up and downs along the way. We will spend the night at moraine camp.

Today, our destination will be Tilman Pass Base Camp which is reached after crossing the height of 5,320 meters. From Moraine Camp, it is likely to take us about seven hours to get to Tilman Pass Base Camp. We will be getting there by crossing Tilman Pass which offers us magnificent sights of various Himalayas like the glorious Langtang Himalayan Range. The day is filled with challenges and is equally exciting. We will be moving through steep rocky moraines and conduct various descend as we head for the Base Camp. We will be staying at Tilman Base Camp for the night.

On the eleventh day, we will be heading for the gracious Tinpokhari after having an early morning breakfast at The Tilman Pass base Camp. It will probably take us about six hours to reach an elevation of 3,735 meters. The sacred lakes that form Tinpokhari are one of the major attractions of the region, the sight of which will certainly humble you. We will be camping around the lake.

Today, we will be conducting a walk for about six hours to reach Panch Pokhari which is a combination of five sacred lakes. Situated at an elevation of 4,123 meters, the lake is indeed a pleasure for the eyes. We will be trekking along with the peaceful company of mystical landscapes and glorious Himalayas. We will be staying overnight here at Panchpokhari.

This day is for acclimatization and resting purpose. However, we can use the opportunity to explore the surroundings of PanchPokhari.

On the fourteenth day of our amazing trekking journey, we will be heading for Nasimpati from Panchpokhari after an early morning breakfast. It is likely to take us about six hours to reach Nasimpati after conducting several ascent and descents through the rocky hills. We will be staying overnight in our camp at Nasimpati.

Today, we will leave Nasimpati after an early morning breakfast and head for Bhangyang which is situated at an elevation of 3,414 meters. It will probably take us 5 hours of walk. We will be moving through forest blooming with rhododendrons. We will settle our camp at Bhangyang and stay there for the night.

Today, we will be carrying out a trek lasting for about six hours to reach an elevation of 3,024 meters where Pauwabas is located. Pauwabas is our camping destination for the day. We will be encountered with the shelters created for pilgrims when we reach Pauwabas. We will be staying there for the night.

On the eighteenth day, we will be heading to reach Obreni after having breakfast at Kharka. It is likely to take us about five hours to get to an elevation of 2,043 meters which is composed of various uphill and downhill, We will be camping at Okhreni for our overnight stay and enjoy the amazing views of the glorious mountains.

Our amazing trekking journey is coming to an end. Today is our final day of trekking . We will be heading for Chautara from Okhreni which is situated at the height of 1,235 meters which will take us about five hours to reach. Along the way, we will be encountered with small villages which will certainly welcome us with great joy and warmth. We will be settling our camp near Chautara and spend the night there.

On the twentieth day, we will finally get to hop in a private vehicle and give some rest to our legs and back. Today, we will be heading towards Kathmandu Valley. You will be escorted to your accommodations after reaching Kathmandu and there will certainly be some celebrations in the evening along with farewell.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Experience Required:

A good level of fitness and experience of mountain walking is required for the Tilman Pass Trekking. These tend to be longer treks with some more difficult days, some of which may involve walking at increased altitudes and more difficult terrain. Occasionally, there may be a longer day when negotiating the more challenging sections such as a mountain pass or viewing peak. Altitude may range up to 5000 meters.

Pre-Trip Meeting:

Prior to set off to Tilman Pass Trekking, we host a Pre-Trip meeting here in Kathmandu office on the 2nd day of your itinerary which starts in the evening during the dinner and introduce your trek Leader. It is an opportunity for individuals to ask questions about your Tilman Pass Trekking as well as introduce you to one another.

Equipment Check List:

The specified basic equipments check lists should help you with your packing. Remember to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should not weigh more than 20 kg.

Head:-

For the head protection: Sun hat or scarf - Light balaclava or warm fleece hat - Sunglasses with UV protection.

Lower Body: -

Under Garments - Hiking shorts - Lightweight cotton long pants - Light weight hiking thermal bottoms - Fleece or wool pants – Waterproof trekking trousers -

Feet: - lightweight thin inner socks - Thick, warm wool hiking socks - Hiking boots with spare laces - Camp shoes – Gaiters (optional)

Upper Body:-

As for the upper body’s shirts – Hiking and light weight thermal tops - Fleece jacket or pullover - Fleece Wind-Stopper jacket (optional) - Waterproof shell jacket - Down vest and/or jacket - Base layer shirts - Warm jacket (down)*

Hands: - gloves that are Lightweight - Heavyweight gloves or mittens with a waterproof shell outer.

Accessories:-

Sleeping bag (comfort rated –10ºC)*- Sleeping bag liner - Head torch with spare bulbs and batteries - Small pad or combination.

Trekking Bags: - Large bag for keeping items dry inside trek bag, Daypack 250 to 30litres. - Thermarest sleeping pad - Water bottles - Water purification tablets.

Basic First Aid Kit: - Antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Imodium), altitude (Diamox), painkillers, plasters and blister treatment, insect repellent, and re-hydration salts (Dioralite). Glucose tablets and multi-vitamin tablets are also a good idea.

Toiletries:- 1 medium sized quick drying towel - Tooth brush/paste - Multipurpose soap - Deodorants - Nail clippers - Face and body moisturizer - Feminine products - Small mirror - Wet wipes - toilet roll/Tissue Extras - Antibacterial hand wash

Luxuries - Binoculars - Reading book - Trip Map/Guide book - Trekking poles – Camera - Repair kit: needle, thread, duct tape.

A typical day:

At 6.30 am your Sherpa knocks on your door with a cup of good morning tea. Time for the Breakfast, tight up your bag pack and head off for today's trekking hiking for the next three to four hours then at pleasant spot we shall stop for an hour along the way for a well-prepared hot lunch. Later, a walk another three hours or so before you stop for the over night. The evening can be spent reading or chatting with your fellow hikers or trekking crew about the trip of the day. An asset can be pack of games to these nights; your trekking crew love teaching various Nepali card games and learning new Western games. Eventually, it's time to bed for a well deserved night.

Accommodation:

While at the Tilman Pass Trekking, lodging options are limited so please do not expect the Ritz! Nepal Nomad utilizes simplistic family run lodges, with a large sociable central dining area and a cozy chimney burning fire. Lodges are on a twin share basis and we recommend you use your own sleeping bag. Accommodations in Tilman Pass Trekking tend to have shared bathroom facilities and you may not always have access to a shower. Regardless of the lack of facilities, these lodges certainly have a rustic charm, most are blessed with spectacular views and being family run operations, they offer a great insight into the daily life of the Mountain people.

Insurance:

Nepal Nomad's booking terms & conditions of joining Tilman Pass Trekking includes that you must be fully insured with medical, emergency rescue evacuations including trip cancellation insurance which should cover over 3000m to 5000m.

Altitude Sickness:

Itinerary of the Tilman Pass Trekking is designed to ensure that there is plenty of times for adequate occurs as a result of acclimatization and cases of mountain sickness are rare. The common Symptoms are headaches, nausea, irregular breathing, insomnia and the swelling of fingers and glands. Medical Treatment is to descend to a lower altitude as quickly as possible which normally results in rapid improvement and recovery.

Meals:

On Tilman Pass Trekking three meals on full board basis will be provided (Nepali, Sherpa, and Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Chinese and Indian cousins). Every day dinner and breakfast will be placed and taken in the same lodge you spend over night but Lunch will be taken on your way to next village. Farewell dinner, breakfast and reception will be provided in Kathmandu.
