Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted with a warm welcome and transferred to your comfortable accommodation. A delicious dinner featuring authentic Nepali cuisine will be served, allowing you to savor the flavors of the region.

The next day, you will attend a pre-trek briefing where our experienced team will provide you with detailed information about the upcoming trek. This briefing will cover essential aspects such as the itinerary, safety guidelines, and necessary equipment.

During your stay in Kathmandu, you will have the opportunity to explore the city and its surroundings. Immerse yourself in the rich local culture, visit historical sites, and interact with friendly locals. You can also embark on short hikes in the nearby hills, enjoying scenic views and getting a taste of the natural beauty that Nepal has to offer.

As the day comes to a close, you will return to your accommodation in the Kathmandu Valley. Here, you can unwind and soak up the local atmosphere, experiencing the warm hospitality and charm of the region.

The trip begins early in the morning at your hotel, as scheduled according to the flight. Since the weather is favorable in the morning, all the flights to Lukla operate during that time. You will meet the rest of the crew at Lukla after a scenic flight of approximately 25 to 30 minutes from Kathmandu.

Once you arrive at Lukla, there will be final preparations made before embarking on a 3 to 4-hour trek to Phakding. The trail initially descends through the forest above the Chaurikharka Village and continues towards Ghat (2,530m) before reaching Phakding (2,640m). Along the way, you will come across Buddhist rock paintings, a Mane wall, and Chorten (Buddhist shrines). The trail mostly follows the bank of the Dudhkoshi River.

After reaching Phakding, the rest of the day is free for you to explore the Sherpa Village or hike up to the Monastery. You will spend the night at a tea house in Phakding.

Please note that during the peak trekking season, direct flights from Kathmandu to Lukla and vice versa may not be available due to high air traffic. In such cases, an alternative option is to fly from Ramechhap to Lukla after a 132 km drive that takes approximately 4 to 5 hours. Enjoy your trekking adventure and have a wonderful time in the beautiful surroundings of Nepal!

After having breakfast in Phakding, the trail continues along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River. After approximately 2 hours of walking, you will reach the villages of Tok Tok and Banker. Along the way, you will be treated to stunning views of Thamserku Peak and Kusum Kanguru.

Crossing a bridge, the trail begins to ascend towards the small village of Chomoa, which is home to an agricultural project farm. The ascent continues until you reach Monjo (2,840m), where you will see the entrance gate of Sagarmatha National Park Area. This national park, established in 1976, covers an area of 1,148 square kilometers and is a protected area for the Everest region.

From Monjo, the trail descends through a jungle before crossing a bridge at Jorsale (2,830m). After another bridge crossing, you will reach the fifth and final bridge located at the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhotekoshi Rivers. This bridge is situated high above the water's surface, providing an exhilarating experience.

Next, you will begin the climb to Namche Bazaar, following a winding trail that offers fantastic views. After approximately 45 minutes of ascent, you will catch your first glimpse of Mt. Everest (8,848m) and Nuptse (7,879m) on the trek. The trail then passes through a forested area known as Mislung before reaching the gate of Namche Bazaar, just a five-minute walk away.

If you happen to be in Namche Bazaar on a Saturday, you'll have the opportunity to explore the weekly market that takes place. It's a great chance to immerse yourself in the local culture and witness the vibrant Sherpa heritage.

You will spend the night in Namche Bazaar, surrounded by majestic mountains and embracing the rich Sherpa culture. Enjoy your stay and continue to soak in the awe-inspiring beauty of the Himalayas!

Today is a day for exploration and rest to aid in acclimatization before heading to Renjo La Pass. After a late breakfast, we embark on a day hike from Namche Bazaar to Khumjung Village. The hike takes approximately 2 to 3 hours and offers breathtaking mountain views, including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Kangtegha, Thamserku, Kusum Khanguru, Khongde, and Khumbi Yu La.

We ascend the ridge above Namche Bazaar and make our way to Khumjung Village. The trail provides panoramic vistas of the mountains as we traverse toward our destination. Upon reaching Khumjung Village, we are greeted by beautiful green rooftop houses, stunning mountain views, and a unique insight into Sherpa culture and their way of life. Notable attractions in Khumjung include the Hillary School, an ancient Monastery housing the mysterious creature Yeti's skull, and the Khunde Hospital.

After exploring Khumjung, we return to Namche Bazaar via Sir Edmund Hillary's memorial Chhorten and a yak farm. If you have more time and interest, you can visit the Sherpa Mountaineering Museum or the Sagarmatha National Park Headquarters. Namche Bazaar also offers the opportunity to wander around and experience the vibrant Sherpa downtown area.

You will spend the night at a tea house in Namche Bazaar, resting and rejuvenating for the upcoming adventures.

Today, you will leave Namche Bazaar and make your way up the Thame Valley, which will take approximately 4 to 5 hours. The Thame Valley is less frequented by trekking groups, so you can expect relatively quiet paths along the way.

The trail from Namche Bazaar initially heads west from the Gumba, passing a ridge with a helipad in about 15 minutes. It then leads through the forest, and within 30 minutes, the descending trail from Syangboche joins from above. After another 15 minutes, you will reach Furte (3,400m), where you'll find a large Stupa, tea shops, two lodges, and a government-run tree nursery.

Continuing on, you will come across Samsing with two tea shops and then reach Tseso, which features an ancient-looking stupa. Just beyond Tseso, there is an inviting set of stone steps leading to Lawudo Gomba. However, if you are on your way to Thamo (3,450m), you should stay left at the junction and reach Thamo in about 20 minutes from Tshko, which is approximately an hour from Furte.

Leaving Thamo, instead of descending to the left of the river, you will climb past the monastery located at the end of the village. After crossing the bridge at Bhotekoshi, you will immediately ascend to Thame (3,800m), which takes about 1 ½ hours from Thamo via Samde (3,610m). The houses in Thame are spread out, and you will camp in one of the fields surrounding the house of a Sherpa friend. In the afternoon, you can visit the small Gomba situated on a rocky headland above the village.

You will spend the night at Sherpa Land in Thame, enjoying the serene atmosphere of the valley and its surrounding beauty.

After a day of acclimatization, your body is now recharged for the upcoming adventure of crossing the Renjo La pass. Today, you will head north into the remote Nangpa Valley, following the banks of the Bhote Koshi River, until you reach Lungden (4,150m). This valley was previously off-limits to trekkers until 2005, as it served as the main access route between Nepal and Tibet via the Nangpa La Pass.

The Nangpa Valley has been frequented by Tibetan traders who traverse this route, bringing a variety of Chinese goods on the backs of their yaks to sell in Namche Bazaar. The trail from Thame to Marulung, which is your destination for today, takes approximately 5 to 6 hours of walking.

Lungden Village, nestled in the lap of Mother Nature, will be your overnight stay. Enjoy the tranquility and scenic beauty of the village as you prepare for the upcoming challenges of crossing the Renjo La pass.

Today is a significant day as you embark on crossing the Renjo La pass, standing at an elevation of 5,360 meters. The ascent will take approximately 7 to 8 hours. After having an early breakfast at your tea house and packing some lunch, energy bars, and sufficient drinking water, you begin your climb.

Following the trail, you gradually ascend into a wide curve, making your way toward the distinctive ridge line that lies ahead. As you approach the pass, you will notice that the actual marking indicating the pass is relatively small. However, the moment you reach the top, you are greeted with an incredible panorama. The view stretches out before you, encompassing the stunning turquoise lakes of Gokyo (4,790m) and a magnificent sight of Mt. Everest.

After soaking in the breathtaking views, you will descend over a rough glacial slab and moraine, making your way toward your campsite located in a secluded spot on the western shore of Gokyo. This remote and serene location offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty of the isolated Himalayan landscapes.

In the early morning, before the sun has fully risen, you will embark on a hike to Gokyo Ri (5,360m), which will take approximately 2 hours. The purpose of this hike is to witness the breathtaking view of the sunrise from the summit, providing you with a panoramic vista of the surrounding mountains, including the majestic Mt. Everest. This experience will undoubtedly be etched in your memory as an unforgettable moment.

From the top of Gokyo Ri, you will be able to admire the towering peaks that surround you, including Cho Oyu (8,153m), Gyangchung Kang (7,922m), Lhotse (8,501m), Makalu (8,463m), Cholatse (6,440m), Taweche (6,542m), Kantega (6,685m), Thamserku (6,808m), Lobuche (6,145m), and of course, Mt. Everest (8,848m). The scene is further enriched by the presence of numerous unnamed peaks that fill the horizon. As you gaze downward, you will also witness the awe-inspiring sight of the Ngozumba Glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal, stretching through the valley below.

After spending time taking in the incredible views and creating lasting memories, you will make your way back to Gokyo, which will take approximately an hour. There, you will enjoy a well-deserved breakfast and then have the rest of the day to relax and rejuvenate.

After your exploration of the beautiful Gokyo Valley and its lakes, the trail now begins to descend gently. You will pass by the Nagjumpa Glacier and continue your journey, making your way through the second and first Gokyo Lakes. As you descend, you will come across small settlements such as Phang, Machherma, Luza, and Lhabarma.

For those who wish to take an alternative route to Phorche Village, the trail branches off from Phang and turns to the east, following the right side of the Dudh Koshi River. Along this route, you will still have the opportunity to witness the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding mountains.

As you continue your trek, you will find yourself gradually descending towards Dole. This picturesque village is located just at the tree line, allowing you to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature. Enjoy your overnight stay in Dole, surrounded by the serene ambiance of the mountains and lush surroundings.

After enjoying breakfast at the tea house in Dole, you will continue your trek. The trail will lead you through a descent into the sub-alpine forest, eventually reaching Phorche Thanga, situated just above the riverbank. Here, you may encounter another trail that joins from the Phorche Village.

Leaving Phorche Thanga, the trail will begin ascending high above the Dudh Koshi River. This part of the trek involves a challenging ascent. As you reach the top of Mongla Hill, you can take a moment to catch your breath and enjoy a cup of tea while taking in the breathtaking view of the mountains and the spectacular landscape of the Dudh Koshi Valley.

Afterward, the trail gradually descends, leading you to the small settlement of Sanasa Village. This village serves as the main trail junction for those heading to Everest Base Camp. From there, you will continue walking towards Namche Bazaar, passing through Kenjoma. This portion of the trek will take approximately 6 to 7 hours.

Finally, you will arrive at Namche Bazaar, where you will spend the night. Namche Bazaar offers a vibrant atmosphere, serving as a hub for trekkers and climbers in the region. Take this opportunity to rest, replenish your supplies, and immerse yourself in the lively Sherpa culture that thrives in this mountain town.

On the last day of your trek, you will embark on a long walk that will take you approximately 6 to 7 hours to reach Lukla. Starting from Namche Bazaar, you will descend through the lush forests of the Sagarmatha National Park, following the trail that leads to the confluence of the Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi Rivers. After crossing the bridge, you will continue walking along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River, passing through Sherpa villages such as Jorsale, Monjo, and Phakding.

Throughout this trail, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the lush green landscapes and breathtaking mountains. If you happen to arrive in Lukla on a Thursday, you may even have the chance to witness the weekly market bustling with various commodities. Take some time to explore the area while your guide takes care of reconfirming your flight ticket for the following day.

As the day comes to an end, you will enjoy your last dinner in the mountains, celebrating and reminiscing with your trekking crew. It's a time to cherish the memories made during your trek. Finally, you will spend the night at a hotel in Lukla, preparing for your departure the next day.

When flying from Lukla to Kathmandu, it is common for flights to operate in the morning due to the more favorable weather conditions. However, there can be delays due to bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. Therefore, we recommend including an extra day in your itinerary as a contingency in case of any flight delays.

On the scheduled day of your return flight, you will fly back to Kathmandu and be transferred to your hotel. You will have free time to relax and unwind after the long trek. You can also use this time for any last-minute shopping in Thamel, where you can find souvenirs for your family and friends.

A typical day in Gokyo Renjo-La Pass Trek

You will be greeted good morning by a Sherpa at your door early in the morning with a refreshing cup of tea or coffee or any other items you prefer.
