Kongde Luxury Trek is one of the extraordinary hikes which brings diverse standpoint to the Solukumbhu Valley. The beautiful Kongde has an altitude of about 4250m which is located right in from of the Namche Bazaar which is also the primary place of the Sagarmatha National Park and has been divided by the Bhote Koshi Nadi River. We have to pass all the way to the highest of the Kongde as we pass the amazing Bhote Koshi Nasdi River bia the Thame and then begin with our uphill climb in the diagonal.

One journey begins with the Kongde Luxury Hike with the arrival at the domestic airport of the bustling city of Kathmandu and then we head towards the hotel as the representative of the Nepal Nomad shall pick you. Then on the next day, there will be the permit preparation and the briefing day on the trip where we later head back from the Kathmandu to the Lukla as we hike towards the Phakding. After the amazing Phakding we move towards the capital of the Sherpa Community “Namche”. We explore around the Namche and then acclimatize for the day here. Out from the Namche we trek towards the Thame where we rest for the day here and then later to the main designation for the day to the Kongde where after breakfast walk about 3 hrs to approximately 500m to Farak Ri with panoramic birds eye views of entire Khumbu Valley and view of 8000m peaks; Cho Oyu, Ama Dalam, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Thamserku and many other Peaks of Khumbu Valley such as Cholatse, Island Peak, etc. as well as you can enjoy the gorgeous view of Tengboche monastery along with Namche and Khumjung village. By heading to the sight of the Phakding valley with astounding sights of the great Mt. Thamserku and the Kangtega range we then head down through the TokTok village. Out from the Phakding we then move to the Lukla and head back to the Kathmandu by taking a striking flight. As we reach at the Kathmandu we will have some free day where later we then depart and reminisce on the journey as we head back to the home country.

During this hike to Kongde, one is sure to be moved to the magic trails and the mythical sights to experience oneself to the majestic peaks and to the top of the highest peak in the world. One is surrounded by the great Lhotse 8,516m, Nuptse 7,861m, Ama Dablam 6,812m, Pumori 7,161m, Everest 8,848m, Thamserku 6,608mand many more. One can walk through the forest of the rhododendron as well by crossing across the large and pretty cascades which fill from the highest of the hills as we enter into the beautiful world of the Sherpa Culture. The amazing Kondge luxury trek begins as you set your feet into the astounding valley where we make sure that your stay is made memorable in a very comfortable accommodation where our team member will lead you to all the way from the airport while giving you all the required information amount the day’s plans.

On the 2nd day, we seize the time and opportunity to immerse ourselves into the different dimensions of the Kathmandu city which hold its beauty in a different way. We will be visiting and strolling around local market places connecting the visits to museums and heritage sites as Basantapur Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath and others.

Day third will eventually end at Phakding but before that we head to catch our flight which will be directly connecting us to Lukla bringing us inside the existence of the Everest region through a scenic ride. We will then begin the trek from Lukla to get to Phakding and stay the night there.

Beautifully situated at a great height of 3,440 meters, we head to reach Namche. We sit and enjoy the lovely breakfast in Phakding in the morning and then begin our trek through the beautiful forest while enjoying the encounters of streams and other beauties of the region.

The day is solely for relaxing ourselves and our body, so we will be keeping the trek out of list whereas hike can take place.

We will bid goodbye to Namche as we further target for Thame village standing at the height of 3,440 meters. We will gracefully walk through the beautiful forest of pine while enjoying the wonderfully formed Sherpa houses. We will take rest and stay the night in Thame village.

Today we will be resting at Thame while discovering its beauty through a full day excursion of Thame which has beautiful monastery and astounding views to offer.

Today is a comparatively longer day of walking to Kongde. We will be walking through the route of Bamboo forests and make our way through gorgeous Sherpa villages while reaching for Konge situated at 4,250 meters. We will be leaving Thame early in the morning after we enjoy the amazing breakfast.

After breakfast walk about 3 hrs to approximately 500m to Farak Ri with panoramic birds eye views of entire Khumbu Valley and view of 8000m peaks; Cho Oyu, Ama Dalam, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Thamserku and many other Peaks of Khumbu Valley such as Cholatse, Island Peak, etc. Get back to the resort for lunch & dinner and you can enjoy the spellbinding panoramic view of Tengboche monastery, Namche and Khumjung village.

After an early breakfast we head towards the Phakding by heading to the sight of the Phakding valley with astounding sights of the great Mt. Thamserku and the Kangtega range we then head down through the TokTok village before we reach to the Phakding.

While enjoying the beautifully laid out route, we will make our way to Lukla from Phakding which will take us about three hours of walk on the eleventh day.

On the twelfth day, we will fly out of the beautiful Everest region and get back to Kathmandu which must have been waiting for us as soon as we left the beautiful city.

Today is an extra day kept as a buffer day in case the flight back to Kathmandu gets disturbed due to any weather contingencies. However, if you succeeded in landing Kathmandu on the previous day, you can enjoy short day tour or have some shopping in the market to purchase a token of memory from Nepal to your home.

Today we fly back to home after all this amazing encounter to beautiful places around the country. The head of the Nepal Nomad shall take you to the TIA airport where one should check in before 3 hours to the flight scheduled.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Experience Required:

A good level of fitness and experience of mountain walking is required for the Kongde Luxury Trek. These tend to be longer treks with some more difficult days, some of which may involve walking at increased altitudes and more difficult terrain. Occasionally, there may be a longer day when negotiating the more challenging sections such as a mountain pass or viewing peak.

Pre-Trip Meeting:

Prior to set off to Kongde Luxury Trek, we host a Pre-Trip meeting here in Kathmandu office on the 2nd day of your itinerary which starts in the evening during the dinner and introduce your trek Leader. It is an opportunity for individuals to ask questions about your Kongde Luxury Trek as well as introduce you to one another.

Equipment Check List:

The specified basic equipments check lists should help you with your packing. Remember to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should not weigh more than 20 kg.

Head:-

For the head protection: Sun hat or scarf - Light balaclava or warm fleece hat - Sunglasses with UV protection.

Lower Body: -

Under Garments - Hiking shorts - Lightweight cotton long pants - Light weight hiking thermal bottoms - Fleece or wool pants – Waterproof trekking trousers -

Feet: - lightweight thin inner socks - Thick, warm wool hiking socks - Hiking boots with spare laces - Camp shoes – Gaiters (optional)

Upper Body:-

As for the upper body’s shirts – Hiking and light weight thermal tops - Fleece jacket or pullover - Fleece Wind-Stopper jacket (optional) - Waterproof shell jacket - Down vest and/or jacket - Base layer shirts - Warm jacket (down)*

Hands: - gloves that are Lightweight - Heavyweight gloves or mittens with a waterproof shell outer.

Accessories:-

Sleeping bag (comfort rated –10ºC)*- Sleeping bag liner - Head torch with spare bulbs and batteries - Small pad or combination.

Trekking Bags: - Large bag for keeping items dry inside trek bag, Daypack 250 to 30litres. - Thermarest sleeping pad - Water bottles - Water purification tablets.

Basic First Aid Kit: - Antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Imodium), altitude (Diamox), painkillers, plasters and blister treatment, insect repellent, and re-hydration salts (Dioralite). Glucose tablets and multi-vitamin tablets are also a good idea.

Toiletries:- 1 medium sized quick drying towel - Tooth brush/paste - Multipurpose soap - Deodorants - Nail clippers - Face and body moisturizer - Feminine products - Small mirror - Wet wipes - toilet roll/Tissue Extras - Antibacterial hand wash

A typical day:

At 6.30 am your Sherpa knocks on your door with a cup of good morning tea. Time for the Breakfast, tight up your bag pack and head off for today's trekking hiking for the next three to four hours then at pleasant spot we shall stop for an hour along the way for a well-prepared hot lunch. Later, a walk another three hours or so before you stop for the over night. The evening can be spent reading or chatting with your fellow hikers or trekking crew about the trip of the day. An asset can be pack of games to these nights; your trekking crew love teaching various Nepali card games and learning new Western games. Eventually, it's time to bed for a well deserved night.

Accommodation:

While at the Kongde Luxury Trek, lodging options are limited so please do not expect the Ritz! Nepal Nomad utilizes simplistic family run lodges, with a large sociable central dining area and a cozy chimney burning fire. Lodges are on a twin share basis and we recommend you use your own sleeping bag. Accommodations in the Kongde Luxury Trek tend to have shared bathroom facilities and you may not always have access to a shower. Regardless of the lack of facilities, these lodges certainly have a rustic charm, most are blessed with spectacular views and being family run operations, they offer a great insight into the daily life of the Mountain people.

Insurance:

Nepal Nomad's booking terms & conditions of joining Kongde Luxury Trek includes that you must be fully insured with medical, emergency rescue evacuations including trip cancellation insurance which should cover over 3000m to 6000m.

Altitude Sickness:

Itinerary of the Kongde Luxury Trek is designed to ensure that there is plenty of times for adequate occurs as a result of acclimatization and cases of mountain sickness are rare. The common Symptoms are headaches, nausea, irregular breathing, insomnia and the swelling of fingers and glands. Medical Treatment is to descend to a lower altitude as quickly as possible which normally results in rapid improvement and recovery.

Meals:

On Kongde Luxury Trek, three meals on full board basis will be provided (Nepali, Sherpa, and Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Chinese and Indian cousins). Every day dinner and breakfast will be placed and taken in the same lodge you spend over night but Lunch will be taken on your way to next village. Farewell dinner, breakfast and reception will be provided in Kathmandu.
